Oct. 15, 2014 - Custer, WI - Cascade Mountain is the location for the last race of the inaugural WI High School Cycling League. High school and middle school-aged mountain bike racers will come to the line for one last race to see who will be the Overall Champion for their category.

Sun. Oct. 19, starting at 10:30am, the races will begin. Throughout the day, 10 mountain bike races will be held: Varsity, Junior Varsity, Sophomore, Freshman and Middle School - with a separate race for boys and girls in each.

At this final race of the season, over 130 racers will experience the challenge of battling at Cascade Mountain. A course which offers a challenging mix of punchy climbs, forested single-track, fairly technical descents, switchbacks and fast traverses. Racers will pass through the area in front of the Cascade lodge several times each lap to provide outstanding spectator opportunities.

"We could not ask for a better location for our final race of the season," said WI League Co-Director Kathy Mock. "Cascade will challenge our racers and give them an exciting race to wrap up the season."

…"and I forgot to thank you again for helping get that loaner bike for Billy. He had his best result of the season, and the one phrase he managed to get out as he hammered by me up that long backstretch climb on the first lap, was “I love this bike!” - thanks again" - Don Iwen, Shorewood MTB Coach

" These events are amazing!!!! I just want to let each and every one of you volunteers know that we could not pull this off without YOU!" Hortonville HS MTB coach

Kids were asked to share "What is the best part of HS mountain biking?" One quote from a student racer: "Riding my bike is super fun, but now that I get to race and hang out with my friends and meet other kids from other teams, it's even better!"
