Tournament of Destruction Award Winners

Round 3 / July 22nd

HIT OF THE NIGHT - Chicago Hitmen's #29 Dave Janjanin dealt a brutal bashing to #42 Brien Chancey that left both cars completely wadded up. Hitmen lost the race, but the devastating shot remains one the biggest of the year.

RACE OF THE NIGHT - War Machine notches their second ROTN appearance, but again was on the wrong side of the outcome. A semi-finals victory slipped through their grasp when Full Throttle rose up from a 2-Lap deficit and executed a burst of offense to seal the come from behind win.

HARD LUCK - An errant driver’s door hit on #66 Ron Tyrakowski within seconds of the green flag immediately altered the course of Round 3 and perhaps the entire season. Two months later, the accident and eventual Crazy 8's event victory looms large with both teams poised for a shot at the Championship.

Round 4's awards will be announced next week!

Team Demolition Derby remembers the late Bill Clemmons

Bill Clemmons, the 1986 Sportsman stock car champion at Santa Fe Speedway and former owner of Team Xtreme, passed away this week at the age of 60.
Clemmons maintained Team Xtreme from 2005 through its last appearance in 2007 with another racing family - the Van Allen brothers - behind the wheel. The "AWC" of Clemmons' business All Will County Auto Wreckers was a prominent sight on the purple & white Xtreme cars, as well as when the Van Allens shifted to Mean Green Machine in 2009.
Bill's son John won multiple races with Mean Green including their first Tournament of Destruction event victory in over 10 years in August 2011 and was part of Orange Crush's 2015 Championship season.
Daughter Amanda also followed his racing path. She competed in the first three Racin' For Boobs women's Team Demolition Derby events including the sole win for Double-D Destroyers in 2013.
The entire Dirt Oval 66 organization extends our condolences to the family and friends of Bill Clemmons.
