About Regine T Rousseau and Shall We Wine

Head Shot RR

CEO and Author Regine T. Rousseau fell in love with wine during a college study abroad trip to Besançon, France. Bitten by the wine bug early on, she began her career in the beverage industry as a salesperson for a wine and spirits distributor. While in this role Rousseau noticed how the barrier of “wine speak” formed a disconnect between wine professionals and consumers. Inspired to bridge the gap, Rousseau started her company Shall We Wine, a wine, spirits and beer tasting company based in Chicago.

At Shall We Wine, Rousseau helps national and boutique wine and spirits brands expand their presence across the nation; while also providing wine education through events, books and videos that she develops. Making wine and spirits approachable for everyone is at the core of Rousseau’s work.

Rousseau received her Level II certification from the International Sommelier Guild and an Executive Bourbon Steward from Stave and Thief Society.

Rousseau has traveled around the globe to share her wine and beverage expertise and has been listed as one of “40 African-American Tastemakers.” She was named a Gwendolyn Brooks Open Mic semi-finalist in 2011, and served as emcee for the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Wine and Dine event in 2018. She was also a featured panelist at the Association of Writers & Writing Program conference in 2013, the inaugural Blacks in Wine Symposium in 2017, the Women’s Breakfast Business Panel presented by the City of Chicago and the SoloCEO Summit in 2019. Additionally, Rousseau has been featured in The New Yorker, Vine Pair, Black Enterprise and Wine Enthusiast Magazine, and has made television appearances on Sisters Circe Live, WGN Chicago and Windy City Live.

About the Southside Wine Divas

sswd members

The SOUTHSIDE WINE DIVAS was Established in 2008 by Founder Joann Taylor. As Wine Divas our group of Ladies have worked to create a unique wine appreciation group. We are a social organization that focuses on promoting wine education and encourage wine appreciation thru fellowship. One of our most important objectives as an educational wine organization is to promote knowledge and become comfortable understanding the vast world of wines. The Divas meet monthly, and each host creates a theme of interests to study regarding a wine or Vintner of their choice. They host many different events and their members travel the world discovering and learning the history of wines.

Between meetings they visit local and State wineries, attend tastings, produce their own line of wines and are involved with charitable organizations that uplift women.

We are committed to learning about wine etiquette and the wine industry while sharing our knowledge with the South Side of Chicago. We are excited to continue to create an environment where anyone can enjoy and learn in a comfortable relaxed atmosphere. We support our Sister Regine in Wine and look forward to hosting more events.
