Christ Revealed

Today’s gospel opens with further reflection on Jesus’ baptism. He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, and the one anointed by the Spirit. In the liturgy we come and see Christ revealed among us in word and meal. We go forth to invite others to come and worship the Holy One, and to receive the gifts of grace and peace made known among us.

Cristo Rey Scholarship Program

El salvadore

Lake Edge has had a relationship with Cristo Rey in Santa Ana, El Salvador for 24 years. Several years ago we asked Pastor Carlos how we could help them. He said the best thing we could do was to provide an education for the children. Education is not mandatory and requires that the student wear a uniform and have their own school supplies. The cost to send a child to school is about $100.00 which is about a month’s income for a family. Every fall Lake Edge members provide scholarship funds, which are wired to Cristo Rey in January before the start of their school year. We have been able to support around 150 children each year. Some of the children have actually been able to pursue educational opportunities after high school. If you wish to participate in this program, please identify your donation as Cristo Rey Scholarship. There will be cards in the fellowship area if you wish to donate in someone’s name as a gift.

Security Incident Update…The Good News!!

gold been announcement

I’m pleased to report that Lake Edge Lutheran Church will not be losing any funds from the Gifts Committee checking account as a result of the recent fraudulent check incident. Monona State Bank has informed us that they will not hold Lake Edge Lutheran Church liable for any loss of funds. This is wonderful news and we are most thankful for Monona State Bank’s support on this matter.
We are also thankful for Chris Anderson's and Amanda McCullough Borth’s quick response in contacting Monona State Bank and the Madison Police Department when they became aware of the fraudulent checks.
While the Madison Police Department has been investigating our case, the Detective in charge has indicated that it is very difficult to apprehend the perpetrators in this type of incident. I will keep you informed if there are any future developments on our case.
