Still Christmas

On the first Sunday of Christmas we find the boy Samuel and the boy Jesus, both in the temple, both growing in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and humankind. We too have returned to the house of God “to sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God,” who has gifted us with a savior. As the festival continues, “let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.” It is Christmas, still.

Return Your Promise of Giving Cards & Auto-Giving Forms

The vibrant ministry of Lake Edge Lutheran Church is possible because of your generous donations! The Stewardship Team asks you to reflect on your giving to the church, and consider how you might increase that giving for 2019. Your volunteer time, gifts-in-kind, estate gifts, and weekly offerings are all greatly appreciated. If you have not yet returned your 2019 Promise of Giving card, please do so as soon as you are able. Thank you for your continued support of your faith community!

Scholarship Funds Will Be Sent in January
Funds Will Be Sent to Cristo Rey in January
Lake Edge has had a relationship with Cristo Rey in Santa Ana, El Salvador for 25 plus years. Several years ago we asked Pastor Carlos how we could help them. He said the best thing we could do was to provide an education for the children. Education is not mandatory and requires that the student wear a uniform and have their own school supplies. The cost to send a child to school is about $100.00 which is about a month’s income for a family. Every fall Lake Edge members provide scholarship funds, which are wired to Cristo Rey in January before the start of their school year. We have been able to support around 150 children each year. Some of the children have actually been able to pursue educational opportunities after high school. If you wish to participate in this program, please identify your donation as Cristo Rey Scholarship. There will be cards in the fellowship area if you wish to donate in someone’s name as an alternative holiday gift.

Time to Lament and Remember

Pastor Mae Jean and the Worship Mission have scheduled three sessions to give ourselves safe space to name the things that hurt in the aftermath of Stephen Marsh’s departure. Sessions are scheduled for Sunday, January 6 at 11:00 am, Monday, January 7 at 6:30 pm, and Tuesday, January 8 at 11:00 am.

See you at church!
