Masaki School of Music Summer Program

Our Summer Music Program is off and running smoothly. Trios, a string quartet, a piano quintet and even a string sextet are busy practicing and receiving coaching from some amazing musicians from our school and from the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra.

In addition, Noe Baladad and Tyler Ramos are teaching Music Theory and Music History as part of this program.

Summer Music Concert

Please join us on Tuesday, July 4th, at 4:00pm for a performance in Orvis Auditorium at the U.H. Music Department. You will be treated to some outstanding chamber music performances by our young musicians. We hope you will come and support our first Summer Music Concert.

A performance of the Bach G Minor Piano Concerto (1st movement) by Shandee Teruya, former student of Ellen Masaki and now studying at the Colburn School of Music in Los Angeles, is also on the program.

The string orchestra will be conducted by Iggy Jang, concertmaster of the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra.

This concert is being offered free to the public.

Student Recitals at Masaki School of Music and Sacred Hearts Academy

This year, two of our instructors, Haney Kim and Kiana Miles, taught 25 young students at SHA, culminating in a May recital with excellent performances by all the students. The MSM is proud to be able to support the Enhancement Program offered through SHA.

One of our finest young teachers, Noe Baladad, made a splash in evening gowns and bikini(!) as she participated in the Miss Hawaii Pageant. A tremendous amount of time and effort was required of her, leading up to the big night, June 10th, at the Hawaii Theatre. Although she was not crowned the new Miss Hawaii, she already is #1 in our eyes. Bravo Noe!

Miss Paradise Latina, Noe Baladad, brought the house down with her dramatic rendition of Lizst’s “Rigoletto Concert Paraphrase” on the grand piano.

The Hawaii Symphony Orchestra concluded their 5th Season on June 11th with a performance by Andre Watts, shown here with Nancy Masaki and Joan Brand, wife of Mr. Watts. Check out what the Hawaii Symphony has planned for next season here

Our 2017 Graduation Recital was held on June 17th. Highlights were stellar performances by 5 graduates (Shaina Yamashita, Joshua Chang, Kariza Nolasco, Daniel Lucas and Tyler Ramos) with dinner and an amazing cake designed by Cake Works following the recital. Photo lineup (left): Joshua Chang, Daniel Lucas, Seon Choi, Kariza Nolasco, Satoko Matsu, Shaina Yamashita, Tyler Ramos, Nancy Masaki and Tommy Yee. (Right): Tyler Ramos and Noe Baladad.
