Are you ready for some Lewis Morris Mania?!

Greetings friends and family! After a well-earned weekend off for our student athletes, we are back to race-mode with stop number three of our state-wide race series. This Sunday, May 6th, 2018 will be the second running of the wildly popular Lewis Morris Mania Race in lovely Morristown, New Jersey!

We have tweaked the course slightly from last year to fit our multiple-lap format, but left all of the rocks and single track goodness in place. Students will appreciate the slightly reduced amount of climbing, and spectators will enjoy the new infield setup. The weather is shaping up to be absolutely beautiful too!

We will once again have Benito's Curbside Eats on site for breakfast and lunch on Sunday! Be sure to check them out, their menu is excellent!

The AC Daughtry Security Results Zone will be up and running for your spectating pleasure, and the League's Try It Out Trailer and fleet of Trek Bicycles will be on site loaning bikes for Pre-ride on Saturday!

Online registration closes in 2 days, on Wednesday, May 2nd at 11:59 pm. Please register online to avoid day-of lines and the $10 late fee. Log in to your account on https://pitzone.nationalmtb.org/ to register, and please feel free to email us via info@newjerseymtb.org if you need a hand.

Please read on for the 411!

Happy trails,

Ken & The Crew

Parking Plan for Lewis Morris

Important Venue Safety Information

PLEASE note the red "X's" marked on the map image above. These are paved roads which lead down to the infield area which will be clearly marked as closed. They are steep descents which lead directly into the Trek Speed Zone scoring tent area, with no way to cross the race course into the pitzone/infield. We also ask that riders do not ride on Sunrise Lake Road to avoid conflicts with cars.

Coaches may accompany students across the pedestrian crossing (Yellow flashing light) at the opposite side of Sunrise Lake and conduct warm-ups on Patriot's Path.

Dismount areas: As always, we request that ALL riders dismount and walk their bicycles in the pitzone.

Riders who disobey these closures will be assessed an orange level penalty.

Race Plate Check

Students, Parents and Coaches, PLEASE check your race plate before leaving home. You are required to have a league plate attached at all times when riding our course. No exceptions! Student plates are chipped so our timing system can score them. All plates are a personal identifier attached to emergency contact information, and they also allow us to monitor unauthorized access to our students while on course.

We have seen an increased instance of lost plates this year, and will continue to charge a $20 late fee to replace them.

Additionally, PLEASE confirm that you are registered in the proper category. Our plates are numbered according to the student's category placement as follows:

Category, # Range
Varsity Girls, 1 - 49
Varsity Boys, 50 - 99
JV Girls, 100s
JV Boys, 200s
Sophomore Girls, 300s
Sophomore Boys, 400s
Freshman Girls, 500s
Freshman Boys, 600s
Grade 8 Boys, 1,000s
Grade 8 Girls, 2,000s
Grade 7 Boys, 3,000s
Grade 7 Girls, 4,000s
Grade 6 Boys, 5,000s
Grade 6 Girls, 6,000s

Students are responsible to know which category they are assigned per the rule book. Please double-check your plate, make sure it is in your bag before leaving home, and mount it to your bars before riding the course. Thank you!

Don't forget the Shimano Door Prize Giveaways!

We will be gifting another bunch of awesome Shimano schwag at the awards ceremony on Sunday! All riders registered for the race are eligible to win and must be present at the drawing. You have to be in it to win it!
