MARK YOUR CALENDAR - TWO EVENTS IN APRIL

Minnesota High School League Leaders' Summit 2019
When: April 27th and 28th, 2019
Where: Quality Bike Products, Bloomington, MN

The annual MN League Leaders’ Summit event is an opportunity to share strategies, and prep for the coming season. This event is ideal for parents, volunteers, new coaches, and returning coaches who would like to learn more about the league structure and processes, how to start a mountain bike team, how to work with their schools, issues related to liability, and the unique intricacies of working with middle and high school cyclists.

Attendance at a NICA Leaders’ Summit is required to secure a Level 3 coaching license. Leaders' Summit registration and event details will be available on Feb. 15, 2019.

2019 BYE-WEEK DRAW
Mark your calendar! On Sun. April 28th at Quality Bicycle Products, the 2019 Bye-Week Draw will be held in the afternoon (specific time of day coming). A coach from each team is required to attend and sign in for the draw.

What is the Bye-Week Draw? The bye-week draw is a selection process that teams use to pick their season’s four races from the six available races in the season. The remaining two races become a team’s ‘bye’ weeks. The seventh race in the season is the state championship where all teams are invited to race!

Note: The attending coach for the draw does NOT need to attend the Leaders' Summit event in order to attend the Bye-Week Draw.

Let's get #morekidsonbikes and #morecoachesonbikes!

NEW Summer MTB Day Camps

Coming Summer 2019

That's right. people. Summer Mountain Bike Day Camps.

Previously, the MN League had offered a single summer overnight camp (3 day camp) held in the Cuyuna area. Kids, parents and coaches all enjoyed the program - and each year, it sold out in record time - to only 60 kids.

This year, instead of offering a program for only 60 kids in 3 days, we are going to make summer day camps accessible for hundreds of kids all summer long. So, what does this mean?

1. There will not be a summer overnight camp this year.
2. There will be multiple day camps all summer.
3. This year, as we roll out the new program, we will only be offering day camps geared for the entry level rider.

3. This year, as we roll out the new program, we will only be offering day camps geared for the entry level rider.

And, the best part - We will be getting #morekidsonbikes this summer.

We're excited, are you?

We are hard at work finalizing the schedule, camp details and costs.
Keep an eye out for updates as we finalize the dates and locations.

Focus Group - Update

At this time, we are still looking for participants to help review the procedure for generating call-up lists. To date, we have received a number of requests from coaches, but we would like to have a diverse group helping with this new procedure development. We are urging parents and riders to participate!

To help facilitate a diverse group - we are moving the timing of the focus group meetings to March 2019.

All meetings will be held in the Bloomington area from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Dates will be selected and agreed upon once the group has been finalized.

This focus group will include representatives from big teams to small teams, metro to out-state, and new racers to old. The size of the group will be limited. For those not able to attend in person, a call-in line will be made available.

Please, only apply if you can attend all the meetings. Substitutes are not allowed. The new deadline to apply is February 28.

During the month of March 2019, the MN League will convene a focus group to evaluate, and, if needed, suggest a new procedure to the League Rules Committee (LRC).

This Focus Group will meet to:
• Review the past rules
• Determine what is a “good call up”
• Research and review other organization’s procedures
• Write and evaluate draft rule(s)
• Make a formal submission to LRC
