Doing what I do best - getting #morekidsonbikes

With the school year coming to an end, all of us at NICA congratulate our graduates and wish everyone an enjoyable summer that, hopefully, includes adventures both on and off the bike!

With the New York League closing out their competition this past weekend, NICA had an incredibly successful spring season and we are already looking forward to the fall season, which is going to be bigger and better than ever with nine states participating – wow!!

I hope you enjoy this newsletter, which includes a chance to win a new Pivot bike as well as program updates and a number of offers from NICA partners.

For those of you attending the inaugural Carson City Off-Road race this weekend, be sure to stop by the Nevada Interscholastic Cycling League's booth to say hi as a few of us will be there racing and cheering for Todd Wells!

Until next month, Austin

Congratulations to the NorCal, SoCal, Texas, New York and Alabama Leagues on the completion of their 2016 Spring seasons. Collectively, 3,081 student-athletes participated.

We have seen fantastic photos that embody strong mind, body and character, and have shared your excitement!

Keep that “Spring” in your step by:

Nominating those deserving individuals from your league for the 2016 NICA Awards!
Sending your story and a photo to content@nationalmtb.org (we might feature your story in the NICA News or social media!)
Putting on your advocacy hat and becoming a Teen Trail Captain!

NICA Leadership comes to Colorado!

This month, NICA leaders will gather at the 2016 NICA Conference. This benchmark event would not take place without the following sponsors springing into action: Town of Eagle, Eagle Outside, People for Bikes, Podiumwear, TeamSnap, Athletic Event Supply, Bike Flights, The Dusty Boot, and simpatiCOWORKING.

While this event is closed to the public, you can participate via live videos and chats that will be posted during the conference. Make sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to get in on all the action!

Raise Funds. Create Awareness. Join the Movement!

GRIT – a word that so accurately describes some people with heart and tenacity. For the John Wayne Cancer Foundation, it embodies the struggle of so many patients, families, survivors and caregivers as they navigate a cancer diagnosis journey.

JWCF has launched Show Your Grit, a fundraising and awareness campaign to attract, engage and retain a new generation of John Wayne cancer fighters, and we need your help.

We challenge you and your extended network to get involved create awareness, raise funds, show support and join the John Wayne movement in the fight against cancer.

How do you do this? It's simple:

Put on your cowboy hat, bandana or best GRIT face, take a selfie and post it in honor of John Wayne or someone you know who has battled cancer. Use our hashtag, #ShowYourGrit and challenge your friends to do the same. Keep sharing and posting to join the John Wayne movement.
Go to johnwayne.org to donate to the campaign.
On June 19th, Father's Day, plan to honor someone in your life -- just as the Wayne family children have honored their father -- by taking them to a special screening of True Grit. Find a location at johnwayne.org/tickets.
