Directors Note

Exploring the amazing natural beauty of our region is a distinct privilege. The efforts of countless land managers, advocates, and volunteers afford us access to public lands. Recreational trails require maintenance and we encourage you to spend a few hours giving back to where you play. Connect with your local IMBA chapter or local public land manager to find a volunteer trail day near you. It is an excellent team building activity and an opportunity to meet other recreational advocates. NEW for 2017 is a TEAM Golden Pick award. Read below for more details.

Registration for the 2017 season is open! Remember that Race #2 September 10th includes North Conference location - Steamboat Springs and a SouthConference location - Leadville. When registering be sure to register for the race assigned to your conference.

Steamboat Springs vert Red-01

We have some big news for the 8th year of the Colorado League! Our vision is to transition into a parallel conference race series by 2020. This will be accomplished gradually as we are able to garner the necessary resources and we are confident that we can provide an exceptional experience where safety is a priority. Special event funding provided by the Steamboat Springs Chamber of Commerce allows us to pilot this concept.

We are extremely grateful to the assistance provided by many Steamboat Springs residents and organizations who advocated on our behalf. They include Eric Meyer of Routt County Riders, Blair Seymour, Michelle Freckleton, Amy Stern of Bike Town USA, and David Scully of EnduroX.

Twenty years after their start, and still locally owned in Boulder, they’re stoked to support the outdoor culture that sets them back to their roots. They still remember what it’s like to be an aspiring cyclist, ski bum, climber, outdoor enthusiast, etc. – which is why quality, innovation, and stellar pricing comes easily to them.

Member discounts for all Colorado League sponsors are HERE and NICA discounts are HERE.

Coaches Keep the Wheels in Motion

The 8th Annual Spring Coach Summit was held in Eagle, CO. New and veteran coaches gathered to learn the nuts and bolts of starting a team, managing practices, and much more. We are extremely fortunate to have a vast array of inspiring mentors who are committed to the success of student-athletes. There were 72 coaches and 13 who generously shared their extensive knowledge with one another.

Thought-provoking and valuable tools were provided by April Olguin-Paige of the Check-In Foundation and Alex Yannacone of the Helen and Arthur E Johnson Depression Center, University of Colorado.

It was a treat to have Sammy Rutherford, Feedback Sports, and Taylor Ross, Primal, for joining the party! Special thanks to the Town of Eagle for hosting us.

Coaches truly are the backbone to the organization’s ability to fulfill the mission of facilitating the development of happy, healthy youth from the saddle of a mountain bike.

THANK YOU for creating a safe, FUN culture where youth thrive.
