Honoring God and Neighbor

In today’s reading from Deuteronomy we are called to choose life by loving and obeying God. Much of today’s gospel reading echoes portions of the Ten Commandments. Jesus’ instructions to the crowd reveal a pattern of behavior that honors both God and the neighbor, resulting in life and health for the whole community. We, too, are invited to embrace these commandments, not out of fear of retribution, but because God has promised that to do so means life for us.

Adult Education: Chinese Dances

Annisa Ritcherson (daughter of Ada Lau, our nursery attendant) will perform Chinese dances, and Chinese music on Chinese instruments. Annisa will explain the instruments and the dances. Annisa is 13 this year. Many of us were delighted by her music performance last year. This session is planned to be in the library, for extra space. If there is a conflict, we will move it to the Adult Education room, but for now, plan on going to the library at 9:30 on the 19th.

Building Bridges: Women's Book Study

Are you reading your book? It's "Small Great Things". When you finish it, put it on the bookshelf in the Library so others can read. We'll be discussing it with the women of Christ the Solid Rock Baptist Church on February 25th.

As we begin the 500th year of the reformation, plan to join in a Bible study of the Book of Romans which was Luther’s favorite epistle (letter). Beginning January 12 and running for 7 weeks on Thursdays, the study times are 1-2:30 pm or 7-8:30 pm. The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board.
