Three-Wise-Men-Kupelwieser

The Gospel for this Sunday:

Matthew 2:1-12

Light of Christ

The feast of Epiphany (“manifestation”) concludes the Christmas season with a celebration of God’s glory revealed in the person of Jesus Christ. In Isaiah and Ephesians, that glory is proclaimed for all nations and people. Like the light of the star that guided the magi to Jesus, the light of Christ reveals who we are: children of God who are claimed and washed in the waters of baptism. We are sent out to be beacons of the light of Christ, sharing the good news of God’s love to all people.

Please place ONLY STYROFOAM in the containers noted for Styrofoam recycling (in the upstairs cloakroom). No other recyclable materials (such as other plastics, paper, or glass) should go in there. Other recyclable materials go in the blue recycling containers, or any container marked just “Recycling.”
Thank you to those of you who are recycling Styrofoam by putting it in the Styrofoam recycling containers. Please make sure any Styrofoam containers you put in are completely clean and free of any food residue. Styrofoam that is contaminated with food residue or anything else won’t be recycled. Almost all of the Styrofoam that has been put in so far has been nice and clean. Good job, folks, and keep it up! Care of the Earth Committee of the Peace and Justice Mission

We are in the process of sorting all the books in the library. The children’s section is finished so bring your children to the special children’s area! Enjoy our many children’s books, as well as books for older readers and books for parents. Also, see the display of Advent & Christmas books in Good Shepherd Hall -- books for children and family Advent activities. Take one home with you for the season. Taking and returning books is all on your honor. Enjoy!

Recycle the Warmth Blanket Drive

Recycle the Warmth blanket-stack

January 24-26, 2020

St. Vincent de Paul annually provides hundreds of needy people in Madison and its surrounding communities with good-quality, recycled and new blankets and bedding. Lake Edge is one of dozens of area churches that participate in this drive annually. All the bedding we collect or purchase during this drive will then be given away during the next twelve months to needy individuals and families who come to the Center for Vincentian Charity (2033 Fish Hatchery Road in Madison) seeking assistance from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Please bring your donations of new or gently used blankets and bedding during the month of January to church. There will be a RECYCLE THE WARMTH barrel located just outside of the nursery door. Questions: contact Anita Grue at anita51_98@yahoo.com or 608-698-0345.
