Knit Together in the Body of Christ

A house divided against itself cannot stand. Jesus makes this observation in light of charges that he is possessed. He is possessed, not by a demon, but by the Holy Spirit. We who have received the Holy Spirit through baptism have been joined to Christ’s death and resurrection and knit together in the body of Christ. Those with whom we sing and pray this day are sisters and brothers of the Lord. With them we go forth in peace to do the will of God.

From the Executive Committee

important notice

We regret that drafts of the minutes from the congregational meeting on May 20, 2018, and the council meeting on May 21, 2018, were published in the June 2018 Dialogue without being reviewed. Those versions of the minutes included a few errors, and did not accurately reflect the actions taken at those meetings. An updated draft of the minutes of those two meetings are available on our website: click here, and hard copies are available under the Jumbotron. Our sincere apologies for the miscommunication. As a reminder, meeting minutes are not official until they have been approved by the next meeting of the same body (council or congregation), so the minutes printed in the Dialogue are drafts meant for informational purposes only. Thank you for understanding.

The program is for children who have completed Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Registration materials are available on the bulletin board. Children can arrive between 8:30 and 9:00 am and should be picked up between 2:30 and 4:30 pm. The closing event is Thursday, June 14; 5:00-6:30 pm.

Volunteers are still needed for VBS this Week!

There is a sign-up sheet available in the Fellowship Area. Can’t help out in person? Financial contributions are also appreciated. Thank you for your support! Let’s all work together to make this year another success. We will need volunteers from both Lake Edge and Christ the Solid Rock.

Support Dane Sanctuary Coalition

dane sanctuary coalition

The James Reeb Unitarian Universalist Congregation (JRUUC), Madison,a member of the Dane Sanctuary Coalition, is preparing to offer a private guest room and install a shower in one of our restrooms for use by an immigrant who seeks Sanctuary while challenging their deportation order that would tear their family apart. We have launched a crowdfunding site on Faithify to raise the first $10,000 (or more) of our goal of $30,000 needed for construction and building code requirements. We are very grateful for the partnership with Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, sanctuary support congregation on the East Side,in this fundraising drive. Our congregation is small (115 members) but our hearts are wide open for social and racial justice, including giving refuge and support to our immigrants and refugees. Here is the link where you can make a tax deductible donation for our Sanctuary project: click here.. Please donate as generously as you can, share this link with your faith body contacts, friends and family to help us raise the necessary funds.

Join the Campaign to End Child Poverty

Every child deserves the opportunity to grow up healthy. But we know this isn’t the case. In Wisconsin, 1 in 6 children live in poverty. The End Child Poverty Wisconsin campaign seeks to reduce both child poverty and racial disparities. You can help.
