Working to preserve the land west of Lake Waubesa from poorly planned development

News Flash - There's nothing in it about climate disruption!

We were alerted to this by CRANES (Capital Region Advocacy Network for Environmental Sustainability), who asks all of us to inject this top priority issue in the one place in the survey where you can write your own words instead of checking boxes. Please help show CARPC how many of us are deeply concerned about climate disruption and want them to address it. Here's how...

Some talking points

Here are 4 sentences that give you a model of how you might phrase your concerns. You can copy one or all, or you can use your own words.

My highest priority is to stop climate disruption. This can best be done by maximizing energy conservation and efficiency, and by quickly transitioning to 100% renewable energy.
Over 40 community organizations, governments and businesses in Dane County have endorsed the 2050 framework for all-sector, countywide Climate Action Planning. I support it too - we need to make this our region's highest priority.
We need to quickly do scenario planning for the entire county at once, so people can understand how land use and other activities impact energy use. Then we can use the best scenario to achieve our goals for climate action.
I support a study of the feasibility of fare-free public transit for Dane County and, if possible, the eight-county south-central WI region.

If you already did the survey, please email CARPC with these climate disruption concerns.

Please email CARPC co-director Steve Steinhoff: SteveS@CapitalAreaRPC.org. Share your desire for the CARPC to make avoiding climate disruption a top priority, and ask him to make sure that the staff for Hearts+Minds (the consulting firm hired by CARPC to design the AGMV survey project), adds your comments to the summary of the open-ended survey question.

Spread the word: lessening climate disruption is a top priority!

Please use the buttons at the top of this e-newletter to spread the word through Facebook, Twitter, Google +, Linked In, or Pinterest. Let's see how many new people we can enlist to fill out and improve this survey in its last 48 hours. It is extremely important that the planners hear from those most concerned about the quality of life we will leave for future generations.

Twenty minutes for a better future is a great deal - tell your friends to take advantage of it!

P.S. The CARPC survey left out any specific mention of climate disruption!

See above for how you can address that as you fill out the survey before midnight on Friday!
