Book Recs

An eclectic set of recs for you this time around.

Set aboard an interstellar colony ship that's been forced to make its way back to Earth, Ness Brown's debut novella, The Scourge Between Stars is a SF thriller "in the vein of Alien and Event Horizon" per the blurb, and that's definitely a great description. I inhaled it in a single night, and already want more of these characters.

Katie Ruggle's Gone Too Deep is a romantic suspense that takes place in the snowy Rocky Mountains and features a big, bearded hero who barely talks, and it's a delight of a read! My first Katie Ruggle book but surely not my last.

I read JS Dewes' Rubicon last year as an ARC and it's now out. This gritty SF thriller/adventure about futuristic soldiers that never die ("Live. Die. Reboot." is the tagline) gripped me by the throat and took me along for the ride. I cannot wait for more.

And last but not least is Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros, the romantic fantasy that's taken the book world by storm. I was lucky enough to read this one early, and wow. If you loved Anne McCaffrey's dragons, or just love dragons in general, you'll love this story set in a college for dragon riders where only the toughest survive.
