Greetings from Yiwu, China.

Last week I was telling you how the heat was really on, you can find out why here.

This week I'm still in Yiwu with Tomas from the UK. And honestly we haven't stopped running all week. It's been crazy but fun.

Regular readers will know that we have an office and warehouse here in Yiwu, so I'm often here. Why is that?

Well.. Yiwu has the biggest wholesale market of anywhere in the world. Something like 80,000 showrooms in a permanent exhibition hall and many more all over the city. This makes a huge range of products and services available. And the infrastructure to back it up.. Packaging companies, printers, tooling, raw materials are all here as well. So you get the sense that anything is possible in Yiwu. Got an idea at breakfast, by supper you could have a preproduction sample in your hand.

Even in this heat.. It's been 45c we have been able to get absolutely loads done. Tomas has been designed boxes and labels, I'm writing copy, Coco our agent making it all happen until midnight every night.

I have seen this sign in a friends house. It said..

What are your hobbies? Mine, working backwards.. Creating great giftware products that our customers love, that's my creative hobby. Running about like crazy to make it happen.. that keeps me fit (does that count as a hobby?), and hopefully making a little money by running Ancient Wisdom (I'm doing what I love.. so that's a hobby). So in a nutshell, AW, AW & AW..

Next week is the Birmingham autumn fair. Are you going? Just so you know, we won't be there. We have never attended the gift fair, why? I hear you asking.. well basically we don't have sales people at AW so no-one to work the stand. We have never employed salespeople (pushy or otherwise) believing our products have to be good enough, and at the right price to not need the hard sell. More reasons here.

Meanwhile Rodrigo who also works in marketing (not sales) at AW HQ. His hobby is photography and has bought himself one of those new fangled drones that can carry is camera to greater heights. So of course made a video of AW.. it's surprisingly beautiful. You can see it here.
