The Heat is On..

Greetings from Yiwu, China.
Regular readers will know we have a buying office, warehouse and small candle factory here. So I'm often here.
Last week I was at our Indonesian warehouse, with Ringo our agent there learning all about Death & Karma.. you can read it here.

Sooo... since then I took an Airasia flight via KL, mainly because it was a lot cheaper than a direct China flight but also because airasia just better organised and more comfortable and fun than China Southern.

But the downside was I arrived in Yiwu rather jaded the travel can take it out of you. Plus the wall of heat as I left the airplane was like OMG what is this.. I moved from 30c to 40c.. and it's been getting hotter.
It can get hot in Yiwu in the summer, but there is exceptional heat - a heat wave in the summer.

Today it was 45c in the shade at 2pm. That is soul sapping, sweat dripping, wall of warmth. Even in the market the airconditioning was failing, escalators switched off (they won't work at this temperature), and yes I'm exhausted but loving it. Tomas is here from the UK.. we have a HUGE list of jobs to do.. and nothing like enough time. I'm writing this at 10pm after such a long long hot day..
Giftware is addictive, we all love creating new things, designing products doing deals and working hard to bring the goods to the market at a reasonable RRP. No matter how hot it is!

As usual got lots to do and not enough time.. but I have to say Tomas and Coco our agent here have been working like demons. Even now at this hour they are both banging away on their laptops, sorting designs, confirming orders, yes the heat is on..

Please forgive me for not providing a longer more introspective newsletter.. maybe next week. But I really need to sleep. Tomorrow might be Saturday but it's a normal working day here. Well not normal.. an abnormally untenable hot day is in store :)
