Brand New Quilt Finish + Happy Spring/Easter!

Greetings Quilty Friends!

Thanks so much for stopping by! If you would prefer to open the newsletter in your browser click here.

Happy April everyone!

This week I picked up my denims and gray quilt from the quilter in time to enjoy finishing and binding.

This is a more contemporary version of my new Palace Court quilt design.

Click below to read about this quilt, the fabrics used, and to see how different this quilt looks from the original pastel shabby chic version.

I made this one to go in our finally redecorated master bedroom. It feels so good to have the worst of that project finally done.

Also new on the blog this week, guest writer Faith Essenburg is sharing part 2 to an Introduction to English Paper Piecing.

In part 2 Fait talks about techniques for sewing the basted blocks together as well as the benefits of hand work and sewing as therapy.

Hexagons are the perfect project for getting started with English Paper Piecing. They're really fun to baste and piece together. But sometimes I don't now what to do with them.

Here's a fun and relatively simple idea for a hexie-filled-heart pillow or pincushion (if time is short.)

Fun Finds on the Web - Spring Sewing projects & ideas:

Allison from Cluck Cluck Sew has a free pattern for a cute Floret floral table-topper here.

Loganberry Handmade has a tutorial for an adorable little coin purse/card wallet. These would be the sweetest custom gifts.

If you're looking for a little more of a piecing challenge, Ellis & Higgs has patterns in her Etsy shop for some of the cutest Easter/Spring quilt blocks you ever did see.

Here's a couple more Spring printables: including a last-minute Easter Printable: Paper Dolls from Sarah Jane Studios, or a watercolor Hello Spring print for a little more sophistication.

Easter Sisters then and now

I hope your April is off to a good start.

I'm happy to be spending the weekend with all of my kids around for some family time - we're going on a low-key getaway and celebrating Easter together.

When I was growing up, my mom frequently made my sisters and I matching Easter dresses. (Bless her, I don't know how she always did it.)

A few years ago my sisters and I decided to recreate one of those iconic Easter Sunday pictures. Not matching gingham dresses this time, but at least we found a bonnet that still fit. Haha.

I love to celebrate Easter and the week beforehand. I love the hope of fresh starts that Spring and Easter represent. This sweet video was a gentle reminder of that promise of renewal.

We can use that hope every spring, but this spring I'm extra hopeful.

Wishing you all a happy weekend.
xo,
Amy
