Hello there!
I'm thinking many of you teachers are starting back soon, as the one question I've been asked several times is how do you prepare for the first day back to school.
KEEP IT SIMPLE.
I know I've said this before, and I know I will say it again. I cannot stress the importance of this!
We don't put near as much out those first few weeks until we can show the children how we use the materials. For toddlers, it just simply works best to have less out because you know most of it will end up on the floor.
It's okay if you don't fill every shelf with materials! This will keep your students from feeling overwhelmed and clean up will be a lot easier.
Model how the materials are to be used. Obviously the preschoolers will have more detailed materials than the toddlers, but regardless, keep it on the simpler end until you can see that they are ready for more.
Make sure you have plenty of time. Each of our activities will be a bit shorter so that we can make time for modeling how to clean up, how to wash hands, how to use the bathroom, how to throw garbage away, etc. Know before that first day what your rules will be, and model, model, model. Never assume they already know how to do anything. Even the smallest thing like putting on sweaters can take twice as long at first. Count on it. Plan for it. Trust me, it will be a huge help!
I am so excited to share this amazing ebook bundle that is perfect for teachers, caregivers, parents, and homeschoolers!
