Greetings !

In the previous newsletter, we made a last ditch effort to ask local tiny house advocates to attend the Ojai City Council meeting on Aug. 28th. If you were one of the tiny house advocates who attended:

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

All your efforts were truly appreciated. Unfortunately, after a long (4hr!) deliberation among Ojai City Council members, the proposed tiny home ordinance still didn’t pass. Several Council members cited concerns about transiency, property taxes and whether the units would actually be affordable.

Council member Suza Francina said she and fellow Councilman Bill Weirick plan to bring the item back after Nov. 6 election under a new council... For more details read the article on VC Star article by Claudia Boyd--Barrett:

“The fact is this: It won’t go away, because the housing shortage isn’t going away.” - Council member Suza Francina

The quote above says it all. We will continue to forge ahead. To this end, I have decided to focus my efforts elsewhere in California - near Yosemite National Park. Read below for more...

Kirsten visits the new location for Vina's Tiny House and Office in Ojai

Kirsten Dirksen has been shooting videos of small + creative spaces for many years. Her body of work is impressive and there is so much inspiration to take from the unique spaces she finds.

Sol Haus Design was incredibly honored when she contacted Vina Lustado for a video shoot. We were thrilled to finally meet Kirsten and her husband Nicolas in person. They travel all over the world and we couldn't be more delighted to share Vina's story with them.

New Vision: A Tiny Home near Yosemite!

It's official. I'm a proud new owner of a sweet little property near Yosemite National Park. I've spent a lot of time on this "heaven on earth" - climbing, hiking, backpacking - and my plan is to transition to live here on a permanent basis.

I have a big vision for this creekside property - tiny homes, small prefab homes, permaculture, or perhaps strawbale.

The three quarter acre parcel is in a lovely setting with a babbling creek right outside the back door of a small rustic cabin (existing on the property). With several Sequoia trees on the property, my intention is to honor the natural beauty of the land with small dwellings that have a tiny footprint.

Tiny Home Parking Available: The property is large enough to host one tiny home on wheels, with enough privacy between the existing cabin and one tiny home. If you own a tiny home on wheels and interested in living close to Yosemite (in a quaint town of Oakhurst), email me at vina@solhausdesign.com. You can also stay in the cabin - click below.

RESERVE CREEKSIDE CABIN NEAR YOSEMITE

This 2 bedroom home is cozy with a wood burning fireplace and sleeps 6 comfortably in their own beds. World class climbing and hiking is just 20-mile drive to Yosemite Valley and Bass Lake. Shopping and restaurants are nearby in the quaint town of Oakhurst. Check out reviews on Airbnb
