Early Childhood Tips for 7/24/16

Hello there, dear readers!

Let's talk about how to get the 5 senses engaged, shall we? Because whatever activities you select for your toddlers and preschoolers, you want them to be able to explore as much as they can. Touch it, smell it, see it, taste it, hear it.

If you are planning for the new school year, make sure to take the 5 senses into consideration.

That's probably why this is one of my favorite quotes from Bev Bos:

"If it hasn't been in the hand, the body, and the heart, it can't be in the brain."

Here are some examples we've used:

Freezer Bag Painting (Touch)

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins (Taste; Smell)

Rhythm Stick Play (Sound)

Picking Sunflower Seeds (Touch)

Scented Dough Recipes (Smell; Touch)

Tissue Paper Art (Sight; Touch)

I have lots more activities on the blog, but wanted to share these with you today. You can also see this collection: 20 Activities for the 5 Senses.

Now, you are being warned. The following are some FALL activities for those of you who are planning your fall curriculum. I promise, I'm still in full summer mode! But thought I'd share these for those of you who plan ahead:

Fall Fine Motor Collection

Fall Painting Activities

Fall Science Activities

And….

In case you missed last week's newsletter, here it is.

I hope you all have a great week!
