Transgender Bill C-16

The Liberal Government's transgender bill passed through the House of Commons in November and is currently being studied by the Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs.

Click here to read our November 2016 National Update on Bill C-16.

Senators will soon vote on whether or not Bill C-16 will become law, basically allowing men to legally access women's bathrooms and changing areas. This means that Committee Members and Senators need to hear from us now.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

1) CONTACT THE SENATE JUSTICE COMMITTEE:
Please contact the Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs and ask them to protect Canadians and their free speech by voting against Bill C-16.

Click here to send an e-mail to the Senate committee now.

Or copy and paste the following addresses into a new e-mail:

3) PRAY:
Please pray that our government would find a way to offer real help & hope to those struggling with gender identity without putting other Canadians, especially young girls, at risk, and that powerful cautionary stories would come out in the news before the bill is passed.

S-206: Bill to Ban Spanking

Senate Bill S-206, also referred to as "the Spanking Bill" is currently being debated in the Senate and will soon face voting.

Bill S-206's passage would make it so that careful, corrective force by loving parents would amount to assault. As it stands, section 43 provides important protection for parents from criminal liability and supports the parental duty to protect and educate their children. S-206 seeks to remove this section of the criminal code.

According to Senator Don Plett, "This goes well beyond taking away a reasonable, responsible parent's ability to spank. It takes away their ability to parent.[...] It means that a statutory defence based on a 'reasonable correction' could no longer be used."

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

1) CONTACT THE SENATE SPONSOR:
Senator Murray Sinclair (formerly the truth & Reconciliation Commission head) is this bill's sponsor. It is important for us to e-mail Senator Sinclair to let him know that this bill will not work to reconcile anything but rather further destroy the family.

E-mail Senator Murray Sinclair: Senator.Sinclair@sen.parl.gc.ca

2) CONTACT YOUR MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT / SENATORS FROM YOUR PROVINCE:
If Bill S-206 passes the Senate it will move to the House of Commons where your MP will get a vote. We urge you to contact your Member of Parliament in addition to Senators from your province to express your concerns.

You can use ARPA's Easy Mail tool to send your MP one of two pre-drafted letters expressing your concerns about Bill S-206. Better yet, send both! It only takes a few moments and every letter sent makes a difference.

IT'S AS EASY AS:
1 - Choose the pre-drafted letter you would prefer to send.
2 - Use your postal code to add your Member of Parliament to the letter.
3 - Edit the letter to make it your own. Remember to be respectful but firm. "Speak the truth in love".

Ontario Bill 89

The Ontario government has been quietly working towards passing Bill 89, the “Supporting Children, Youth and Families Act." Bill 89 saw its second-reading debate on March 6th. This means that this bill will be voted on very soon and MPP's need to hear from us now.

Despite its title, Bill 89 does not support Ontario families or children but rather removes some of the security and authority that parents have in developing strong family units.

Bill 89 would:

Add “gender identity” and “gender expression” to what is considered "in the best interest of the child"
Disregard the religious faith of the child's parents/household and replace it with any “creed” the child indicates they follow
Give child protection services greater power to intervene!

This new legislation could give child protection services the ability to withdraw a child from the home in which their gender identity is not supported. It also potentially prohibits Christian families or parents opposed to gender theory from adopting or fostering children in need.

Basically, Bill 89 overlooks the rights of parents and gives the government more control and parents less control of their own families.

PLEASE ACT TODAY // WHAT YOU CAN DO:

1) Please contact your own MPP as well as Minister of Children and Youth Services, Michael Coteau today, urging them to withdraw Bill 89.

Write your own e-mail or click HERE to send a pre-written e-mail using the Easy Mail tool.
