This is part of the Ottoman army in Jerusalem, the last Muslim army to defend it from colonialists. The Ottomans had fought hard to defend Jerusalem from British attack, with an estimated 25,000 Ottoman soldiers dead.

It was British General- Edmund Allenby who led the unimaginable terror on the residents of Al Quds. On the 11th of December 1917, Allenby entered Jerusalem on foot. Jerusalem would now be under British mandate and years later under occupation by the Zionist entity- Israel.

Due to the shocking disregard of human wealth and sacred land- a letter was written by the Ottoman Governor.

"Due to the siege of the city and the suffering that this peaceful country has endured from your heavy guns; and for fear that these deadly bombs will hit the holy places, we are forced to hand over to you the city.”

Signed Izzat the Mutasarrif of Jerusalem
