Church Work Day ~ Thankful for Volunteers!!!

We cannot thank the seven dedicated volunteers...plus the seven Lamppost Farm folks...enough
for all the time and effort they put in this past Saturday! There is more work than one would imagine in the upkeep of a property this large and diverse. Without these people who so generously give of their time and talents every time we put out the call, we don't know what we would do. Hopefully they know how much they are appreciated! (Not all of our amazing volunteers made it into these group shots, but they were too cute not to share! Thanks to Sarah from Lamppost for sending them to us!) Despite the chilly, wet weather these hard workers persevered and we have a shiny new empty space to put to good use. Keep an eye out to see what comes next!

Prayer

For whom are you praying today?
How can we pray for you?

We are here to pray with and for you, anytime! Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week!

Encouragement

Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement.

"I pray your week is going fantastic. Here in Ohio, we have been dealing with some snow – yes, I know it is April, but here we are. God is still good – all the time! We just celebrated Resurrection Sunday. Oh, what love, oh what mercy and grace. We are children of the Most High God that sent His only Son to save us! So much to be thankful for. So much to live for, so much to be grateful for."

"My Word for this week is “DEFLECT.” I participate in a women’s zoom bible study on Tuesday night and it is The Armor of God by Priscilla Shirer (great study). Anyway, every piece of armor, including prayer, is used to “deflect” the enemy. What God put on my heart especially was to guard our minds to “deflect” anything that God did not promise us. The enemy tries to put things in our heart and mind that would take us farther away from victory. His ploy is distraction and to clutter our mind with anything and everything that is not what God wants us to think on. I pray the Holy Spirit would surround our hearts and mind so that any negative thought would “deflect” off. We need to dwell on the good things. Now I know sad things do happen. Not always roses – but we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. We can do ALL things through Him that gives us strength. If God be for us – who would ever win against us? Discouragement, depression, sadness, loneliness, must all flee in Jesus Name. I pray this will all “deflect” off us and be replaced with the joy of the Lord! It is our strength! Put on the whole armor of God every day – including Prayer as first and foremost and see how much better life can be."

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me - everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. ~ Philippians 4:8-9(NLT)

Making Cookies for Potluck Last Week

News of the Week

GG has had an unexpectedly short week. We came back from Easter break yesterday and got right to work. We watered in the front greenhouse, did some more planting, worked outside and in the warehouse, and even had the time and energy to take a nature walk. Despite the cold and snow of earlier in the week, spring is definitely here. Seeing all the green growing things is very encouraging!

Today we are working in the warehouse. We transferred all Giveaway items from the Library to the warehouse and worked on sorting. We are glad to be working on organzing things so far in advance. If you have clothes and household items to donate, bring 'em on in!

We plan on finishing out the week tomorrow with cleaning and cutting up a fallen tree. Then we will see what else the day brings! It's always an adventure at GG.

Jungle Jam & Juicy Jam

Jungle Jam and Juicy Jam are available in several flavors at Reach for the STARS in Salem and in Columbiana at the Chamber of Commerce office. We are also glad to arrange a pick up at GG.

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
