Shami Chakrabarti at Alleyn's School

liberty

There is a small handful of tickets left for this Thursday 21st May event in the Alleyn's Great Hall, so we highly recommend booking now if you wanted to come. There are unlikely to be any tickets available on the door for this one folks!

We are also delighted to announce that she will be interviewed on the night by Cathy Newman of the Channel 4 News.

You can read more about the event here, or book your ticket here.

Signed Editions available in the shop now

hummingbird

On Saturday, our lovely friend Karen Sullivan bought in Kati Hiekkapelto, fresh from Newcastle Noir, to sign copies of her debut crime novel The Hummingbird. We know there are plenty of fans of great Scandinavian crime novels out there, and this new Finnish writer could be one to watch! Signed copies of her book, and free samplers of the sequel The Defenceless are in the shop now.

And whilst we are on the subject of signed copies, we got lots in the shop, authors who have come for events, and also our local favourites who've popped in to leave their mark on the title pages. From Anne Enright and Patrick Gale, Sara Taylor, Alex Christofi and Brooke Davis, and Andy Seed's new Prankenstein and Yankenstein for children, there are various signed editions available that make an extra special birthday present, or treat for yourself.
