Give Thanks

When Sheryl and I were first married we would be at her parents house for Thanksgiving. As we were sitting down for dinner, instead of saying grace, her dad should ask each one of us what we were thankful for. It was a new tradition for me - but I loved it!

Since we are not going to be eating Thanksgiving dinner with most of you, I would like to pretend that we are sitting around the table and it is my turn to share.

I am thankful for the usual Christian things; God, Jesus and Salvation… but I am most thankful for a God who is willing to listen to me. He will even respond by having a conversation with me when I am ready to listen. The relationship I have with my Heavenly Father has changed my life!

I am thankful for Sheryl who puts up with so much. Following me to Los Angeles and now as we are doing ministry in Texas. She is another reason to thank God - He gave that special woman to me.

I am thankful for the ministry we have had over the years. The thousands of kids who we connected with in the Community Center in Los Angeles, those that we still hear from and the obvious changes that have taken place in their lives.

I am also thankful for the S.A.Y. YES! Centers we have been involved with in Los Angeles and beyond. God has been so good by allowing us to work with people who are changing lives by their daily presence!

But, other than my relationship with God and Sheryl, I am most thankful for you.

Everyday you have been an answer to our prayers and we thank God for you! You have encouraged us, supported us and shared your prayer requests with us. You have lifted us up on days when you didn’t know the need, all you had was the feeling. We couldn’t do this ministry without you. You have become a huge extended family and we love you!

This Thanksgiving I hope you will be content where you are, hopeful in who you are becoming and victorious in your relationship with God!

In His grip,

John
