Hi.

We're really in it, aren't we? There is an intensity to everything these days. As we approach the final winter solstice of the decade, I'm feeling the energies resonant in the longest night of the year. It's sometimes called the dark night of the soul.

New Jersey S2173 and A3818

In the face of massive citizen action, with questionable motivations and frank disregard of pertinent evidence, and with no apparent implementation plan that demonstrates any understanding of the very real risks and vulnerabilities and challenges of their proposed actions, my home state of New Jersey has chosen right now, of all times, to move a bill that will wrench nearly 40,000 children and students from day care and pre-K through kindergarten, elementary and secondary school, and now college/higher education, with no age limits.

It's S2173 and its companion bill A3818 that seek to eliminate the rights of New Jersey parents to decline a medical intervention for religious beliefs. These two bills, and their inglorious path forward, are such a stunning slap in the face to so many constituents for so many reasons.

And yet. There's a fierce beauty to watch us rise.

It's really a love letter to all parents, across the country and the world, working long days and nights to shine a light in the darkness. As we are guided to find the helpers, please use the information if it can help you explain your position. I have been supported and inspired by open-hearted activists across the country who understand the imperative for us to come together.

What now?

We're poised at the threshold of an epic initiation. I know, it doesn't feel that way right now. It just feels messy and scary. Know this. There's rebirth, love, and healing around the corner. It's about grabbing our big, beautiful truth and stepping fully into it. It's about looking left and right and realizing we're not alone. We can hold and support each other through it. That's co-creation and the building of the kind of world we want to live in.

I've been held with love and grace by so many of you who know the journey I've been on. I'm holding the same for you.

Here's to 2020 -- 20/20! -- a year of perfect vision and the courage of a steady gaze ahead.
