Learning Enhanced by Technology

Technology can have a powerful impact on learning when students are taught how to leverage its possibilities. To assist with that, the MITECS were created and consist of seven big picture technology skills. Students need to learn how to use technology to become a Global Collaborator, Innovative Designer, Creative Communicator, Digital Citizen, Computational Thinker, Knowledge Constructor, and Empowered Learner. Teachers should be familiar with these competencies and find ways to include these in their classrooms. Learn more at https://www.techplan.org/edtech-initiatives/mitecs/.

The REMC Association provides several great free resources like MiTechKids and 21Things4Students that are designed to help teachers incorporate the MITECS in their classroom. Learn more at https://www.remc.org/classroom-resources/
