2021 Market Opening

Let The 21st Season Begin

Welcome all your favorite C-Street City Market vendors by shopping with them on Opening Day of this year's market season starting this Saturday, April 3, from 9am to 2pm. Bring your market baskets and some smaller, extra ones for the kiddos as Amy has cooked up an exciting Easter Scavenger Hunt just for fun, since our season opener falls on the day before Easter.

Our C-Street City Market continues at Jefferson and Commercial, in the shadow of the Jefferson Avenue Footbridge, on Thursdays from 4pm to 8pm and Saturdays from 9am to 2pm through October. Interested in being a day or season vendor? Let us know by replying to this eblast or going to the C-Street City Market Facebook page. We'll see you here!

Midtown Cleanup

Clean Up Your Act

Clear out that junk, those old appliances, furniture or building project materials this Saturday, April 3 from 8am to Noon at the Cox North Parking Lot, 1423 North Jefferson. The Midtown Neighborhood welcomes their C-Street friends and neighbors who have items that have outlived their usefulness. The cleanup is sponsored by the City of Springfield, coordinated by Community Partnership of the Ozarks and staffed by the Midtown Neighborhood Association. Take advantage of this convenient free service and get a jump on those Spring cleaning chores.

Art of C-Street on Parade

Did you know there are over 30 outdoor locations that feature fun, artistic visuals, perfect for photo backdrops on Historic C-Street? Joining Commercial Club of Springfield's "C-Street Collection" of Public Art, mainly sculptures and mosaics, are a multitude of what we call "Selfie Spots". These are other visuals created by talented C-Street creatives pursuing their own whimsical and artistic visions while beautifying the C-Street experience.

The Public Art Committee of the Club is developing a self-guided walking tour brochure to showcase all these locations that will be available in many of your favorite C-Street destinations. The pocket-size guide will be printed locally and is funded by our C-Street CID. Watch for it to start popping up just in time for April flowers!

Join Citywide Public Art Effort

L.A.W.N. (Lawn Art With Neighbors) is a city-wide public art exhibition made for front lawns by community members in and around Springfield, Missouri. Created as a grassroots project focused on connecting our vibrant community, L.A.W.N. seeks to empower public art made by the people as a contribution to Springfield’s sense of place and the built environment we all share. The community is invited to create a work of art on their front lawn (or storefront or front entry or sidewalk) for a city-wide public art exhibition.

All members of the community are encouraged to participate by creating a work of art using materials available at home: sculpture, chalk art, installation, etc. in front of their home or business. This project is about expressing creativity, no matter the skill level. See L.A.W.N. Project Guide for details and ideas. To register for L.A.W.N., fill out the Participation Form found on the L.A.W.N. website.

Take Steps Back in Time

The History Museum on the Square is excited to announce a Commercial Street Walking Tour debuting this summer! Katie Turer is looking to work with C-Street folks to develop a schedule for her weekly walks. She's thinking maybe Saturdays to allow for post-tour shopping, dining or maybe a cocktail hour. The tour will explore C-Street past and present and how the unique elements of its history contributed to the development of Springfield and the region. If you have thoughts on tour logistics or other input or suggestions, simply reply to this email.

Come to the monthly meetings to hear about news and happenings in the community and to voice your opinion and share your thoughts on current and future projects for the betterment of the district.
