Season Fundraising Opportunities

racing

Hello racing team members and families,

With the days getting shorter and night time temperatures dropping, it won't be long till we are back on snow. Many of you have been training hard all summer long and are looking forward to another season of racing. As we all know, attending races, training equipment and waxing supplies result in significant costs for our members and the club. In order to provide the same level of support, it is paramount that we continue to put efforts into fundraising.

I would like to see 2 fundraisers happening this coming season.

1. Butcher Block Meat sales. We have done this on 3 different occasions and we have been able to generate anywhere from $1000- $1300 per event.
2. A fundraising Event on January 19, 2019 in Courtenay, including live and silent auction, food and drinks, entertainment and a speaker.

In order to make this happen I need assistance! This is too big for just a few people to do. Otherwise we are at risk of losing people due to volunteer burn out. For the Butcher Block fundraiser I need one lead person to assist me. For the larger event of January 19, 2019
I need 3 or 4 people to form an organizing committee. Please consider getting involved.
Please contact me a.s.a.p., because we need to make arrangements for both fundraisers.
Without new volunteer support these events will not happen.

As the days have gotten shorter many of us have been getting in some rollerskiing prior to the rain and snow. Here is a picture of a rollerski up Mount Washington. A fun day of hardwork and beautiful weather.

L2T dryland and coaching workshop rounded out the fall training!

Volunteers Needed for the AGM

Volunteers needed for Ski Swap - Saturday, November 3rd

The only way we can host a successful ski swap is with many volunteers pitching in.

We need people to help with set-up, take down, cooking chilli, serving at the kitchen, bake sales, etc.

Thanks for your help! Please choose as many roles as you can assist with.

Coach Training

COACHING COURSES AND YOU!! Our Club thrives on volunteer efforts, especially by our volunteer coaches, for Rabbit and Recreational programs. All that is required is enthusiasm for skiing!
The coach courses available this year are:

The Introduction to Community Coaching Course (ICC) is now online (instead of taking up a whole weekend). There are two modules to do. Club Head Coach Andrea Stapff will hold a live session Saturday October 27 10am-12 to discuss the online material, so you can meet and discuss with other coaches.
To do the ICC course, message Marilyn for the information via email

Community Coaching Course - If you can do the ICC this fall, you can also do the on-snow Community Coaching (CC) course on Mt Washington December 7-9 (3 hours only on Friday night). This is a great on-snow course that is excellent for coaching ideas and for ski technique.
To do the CC course, message Marilyn for more information via email.

2019 Snowsports Festival Image

VISAS Winter Snowsports Festival has been running for twenty plus years and is returning in 2019. The goal of the festival is to encourage new adaptive skiers and boarders to join us on the snow! Along with the four day festival there is Have-A-Go program that was introduced for the 2017-2018 season and we are enthusiastic in continuing! The Have-A-Go program is a lighter introduction to the skiing and snowboarding than the festival with 29 new students last season and we are enthusiastic to offer it again this season! For more information and to download an application form, please go to our website here and scroll to the bottom.
