oil on canvas 61cm x 31cm each S$2800 each
When was the last time you saw a coin phone, or even a card phone? Isn't it amazing that once-ubiquitous objects like these are rapidly being consigned to the pages of history, to be commemorated by nostalgic artists?
Honoured clients,
It's the last day of Art Apart Fair at Parkroyal on Pickering! Come and enjoy the great variety of works with a Philippine focus this year in a cool, hip and green hotel where the 14th floor is converted to an art arcade, with each room containing one gallery! As for Utterly Art, visit us at the end of one corridor in Room 1410.
As National Day rehearsals are flying overhead amidst night flash fireworks, we ourselves are pivoting to Singapore, and this mail illustrates the Made in Singapore series of Leo Liu Xuanqi. Images of objects and goods of Singapore manufacture immediately take on an iconic status when enlarged and celebrated as single subjects on canvas. Such images trigger feelings of fondness and familiarity when we are confronted with reminders of our fading past.
Remember Ayam Brand? And that they bottled up Singapore goodness in the form of curry rempah?
