Today in America we observe Veterans Day. Thank you to all who have served our country in the military.

It has been a busy weekend of sports for our family. We attended the Minnesota Gophers Womens Basketball game Friday night, where Lindsay Whalen took her first win as "Coach". A former Gopher and WNBA Minnesota Lynx player, it is awesome to have her coaching here in Minnesota. And yesterday our Tessa was in a full day volleyball tourney. Her team took home 5th place - they had so much fun!

Today we're hosting a Friendsgiving gathering - I'm sharing about the menu below!

Thank you so much for joining us here each week, for reading the blog, and for following along on social media. We are grateful for your company.

Wishing you an awesome rest of your weekend!

These Turkey Wild Rice Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms are all dressed up for the holidays. Giant mushroom caps are filled with a flavorful, lightly creamy mixture of wild rice and turkey. And a sprinkling of fresh herbs and shiny, ruby-red pomegranate seeds are the final festive, delicious touch!

This recipe for Layered Pumpkin Pie in a Jar is my favorite way to enjoy the warm spiced flavors of traditional pumpkin pie. The dessert is creamy, and oh-so-fun and pretty in jars. And I love that it can be made the day before serving!

NEW: On The Blog This Week

This Shrimp Dip is one of the easiest and best appetizers you’ll ever make. It's been a Christmas Eve tradition for as long as I can remember. (Also great for game day and most ANY gathering!!)

CRUMBS: On our Friendsgiving Menu

We've started a little tradition of hosting a small Friendsgiving gathering early in November each year. Our get-together happens today. A few dishes are being brought by our guests, but here's what we're making at our house!

I often like to offer guests a special cocktail when they walk through the door. Today we'll be serving this festive Cranberry Thyme Gin & Tonic. And for those who prefer no alcohol, we have that wonderful ginger ale from Trader Joe's, the one in the big green glass bottle. Have you had it? It's SO GOOD! (And it's a seasonal thing, so grab it soon!)

One of my favorite soups EVER, my Creamy Wild Rice Soup. This edition will use some smoked turkey that we saved when Blake smoked a turkey a couple weeks ago. That smoked turkey makes THE BEST wild rice soup!!

I am a huge fan of French silk pie. And I made this recipe into bars form! This was the top dessert request from our girls for Friendsgiving. French Silk Pie Bars, you'll love this recipe!
