A Gift for You Today

Christmas at Harmony Hill

Today, December 5, you can download my Shaker Christmas story, Christmas at Harmony Hill, free! Free is always fun and especially at Christmas time when it's great to get a gift for yourself along with those you're buying for your loved ones. Of course, you can tell your reading friends so they can grab the book too. But free only lasts today. After that, the price will be reduced for a couple of weeks, but if you want to get the FREE download, here are a couple of links.

One Amazon reviewer says: "A beautiful Christmas story depicting true Christian sacrifice and forgiveness on many levels. Definitely a story you will not forget!"

Forgiveness was a main theme of the story and Christmas is a great time of year to let go of hard feelings and start anew with a joyful heart.

Other e-reading deals are ongoing. Scent of Lilacs is still a free download, and the e-book versions of the followup Heart of Hollyhill books, Orchard of Hope and Summer of Joy can be downloaded for less than $4. It's been fun having so many readers get a chance to read Scent of Lilacs and visit Hollyhill. I appreciate all the great reviews on Amazon.

That picture in the banner is an old one. I haven't done any Christmas decorating. I haven't wrapped the first gift although I have bought some, so I'm not a total Scrooge. I haven't addressed one Christmas card or even pulled out a cookie or candy recipe. My grandkid twin boys are coming to visit this weekend and maybe one of their sisters. As you can tell from their picture, they're full of energy along with a smidgen of mischief. So Christmas preparation is on hold until after the weekend. However, I am writing a Christmas newsletter to you. Does that get me a Christmas star? Tell me how you're getting along with your holiday preparations.

"Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children." (Alex Haley)

Hope you have the chance to do some stardust sprinkling during the holiday season!

A Christmas Giveaway for You

The same as it's fun to get something free, it's also fun to win something. Christmas means it's time for a new giveaway contest. First prize is a lovely three generation figurine along with your choice of one of my autographed books. I picked that prize since so many of my stories feature family relationships. Second prize is the Peanuts perpetual calendar with smiles waiting on every day and also the choice of one of my books. I love having giveaway contests because I get to hear from so many of you. Just send me an e-mail (annhgabhart@yahoo.com) and I'll throw your name in my giveaway hat. Any e-mail will do, but for fun, you can tell me your favorite thing about the Christmas season. You can also enter by commenting on One Writer's Journal or Jocie's Heart of Hollyhill blog in December, but be sure to leave a way to contact you. Deadline for entries is Midnight EST on December 31. You must be 18 to enter and have a USA or Canadian mailing address. Next time, I'll come up with something not so hard to mail to include you international friends.

Oscar says Merry Christmas!

We can learn so much by observing the way our pets rejoice in life’s simplest moments. For a dog, every morning is Christmas morning. Every walk is the best walk; every meal is the best meal. Take time every day to celebrate the many gifts that are hidden in the ordinary events of your life. (Cesar Millan, The Dog Whisperer)

My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern is very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait for Christmas to do that? (Bob Hope)

I wish we could put some of the Christmas Spirit in jars and open a jar of it every month. (Harlan Miller)

God bless your Christmas wherever you are and keep your courage bright;
For the spirit of man is the candle of God and burns on the darkest night.
(Hazel Adams)

And most important - Have a Wonderful, Blessed and Happy Christmas!
