From the Hats desk to yours

Hi Everyone
Hats opened its annual program with" Fringe in the Valley" which saw a huge talent of diversified performers pass through the Courthouse ending with Hats touring the International Italian marionettes to 10 schools in our region. This was so very well received and loved and enjoyed by teachers & students alike. Its so rewarding being part of an Arts organisation where we can experience first hand the difference and impact that performing arts has to play on all ages, and none more so than in regional areas such as ours.In this fast paced global world that we are now all living in not nearly enough is done for community arts and Hats loves to fly this flag when ever it has the opportunity. The love for the arts needs to be nurtured and know where better to start than with our youth so perhaps Hats have sown some seeds for the arts of the future with these delightful young people.
Well, Autumn is already upon us with beautiful days in our lovely valley its just the very perfect time for out of town people to pay us a visit, so gather some friends &join us to enjoy some more memorable live music and a drop or two of some of Clare Valley's finest.Remember Hats remains totally unfunded so we do rely on you all out there for your support to keep this magic happening in our little part of SA. We have been described as the Clare Valley's best kept secret so if you have not yet visited us please do so soon or even if you have, please come again.
We all look forward to welcoming you to another Hats event very soon.
Kind regards
Cherie (Hats Chair & Admin) on behalf of all the hard working Hats Inc Team.

E bookings@hatsincsa.com OR T 8849 2420
In July 2009, Fred was the first Australian diplomat to be posted to Uruzgan province, Afghanistan. His main job was to build relationships with tribal leaders in order to improve cooperation and understanding between the local community and the Coalition Forces to act as a bridge between these two vastly different cultures. This put him in a unique position to understand both.
Whilst in Afghanistan, Fred wrote a collection of powerful songs about his experiences and the realities of life for soldiers in this difficult war. These songs were released in 2011on an album called “Dust of Uruzgan”. The album won featured reviews and front pages in The Australian, The Sydney Morning Herald, and The Melbourne Age.
“the music of Fred Smith comes straight from the front line...raw, ribald, but also capable of moving grown men to tears.John Huxley, Sydney Morning Herald, 28 July 2011

In the tradition of Lucinda Williams, Neil Young and Billy Bragg, Tara’s music is beautifully honest. Her debut recording Live and Die by Love featured collaborations with American artists such as the award winning New Mexican musician CW Ayon, and highly respected guitarist CR Humphrey from the Mississippi blues duo Old Gray Mule. Further collaborations saw Tara singing on ‘All the Wandering’, the latest album by South Australian mainstays, The Yearlings.
