2017/18 Club Membership Contest!

2017-09-20 10 58 07-News Cross Country BC

Once again, Cross Country BC is initiating a province-wide membership contest! HUGE PRIZES will be given away, including (but not limited to!) a fleet of kids’ ski gear, a two-night stay for up to 8 people at Silver Star Mountain Resort, and a classic and skate gear package from Fischer and Swix! Last year our club won this contest and we got a package of prizes. We gave some of them away at the year end banquet. We will have some more draw prizes at the AGM for the rest of the gear.

To win, a club has to have the highest percentage of members registered, as of midnight Dec 1 2017, as compared to its previous winter’s total membership. For example, a club with 200 members last year and 140 members by Dec 1 would be at 70%, and a club with 160 members last year and 120 members by Dec 1 would be at 75%.

To make things fair, as well as have more winners, clubs have been divided into 6 groups and a winner will be selected from each group. The prizes will be randomly distributed amongst the winners. For full details, visit the CCBC website for more information.

Jumpstart and KidSport Funding

Check out the following two organizations that are committed to getting kids involved in sport.

KidSport™ is a community-based sport funding program that provides grants for children under the age of 18 to participate in a sport season of their choice.

Jumpstart: When families need a little financial boost to get kids involved in a sport, dance team or other active program, they need to fill out an application. This needs to be done before the fees are due, as the money goes right to the organization. Applications for assistance can typically be submitted from January 15 to November 1.
