Encouragement

Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement.

"I pray you are all having a wonderful week. I just cannot believe we are already in the 2nd half of February. But excited all the more because planting my flowers is right around the corner. Spring – flip flops – no jackets – sunshine – rain – new life – new growth. Doesn’t take much to put a smile on my face. We will always be thankful for all the blessings God gives us."

"I was listening to a program this morning and God spoke to my heart with the WORD for the week – “BLENDED.” It was about “blended” families and how there are always adjustments, forgiveness, give and take, listening, and much understanding. Isn’t that the way we all are? We are all part of God’s “blended” family. We all are a melting pot of different attitudes, backgrounds, upbringing, nationality, feelings, characteristics, and on and on. But we are “blended” none the less. To be “blended” is to take two or more parts mixed as one. We all are different but we all are “blended” together to share Jesus’ love with one another. We are all “blended” to allow the Holy Spirit to move in our lives for that one goal of eternal life with Him! We are all “blended” and sometimes need to show more forgiveness, listening, understanding, give and take and always be willing to adjust if necessary. Isn’t that what Jesus would want us to do? We are “blended” together to be strong in Him – together for a purpose to see others come to Him. Let us check our lives and make sure we are “blended” in a way that would glorify Him – In All We Do. Take the “me” out of the equation and fully surrender to Him. Deny our way of accomplishing it and trust the Lord to do it His way. That is when we will all be truly “blended” in His love."

Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me
lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself,
your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself?
What could you ever trade your soul for?"
~ Matthew 16:24-26 (MSG)

Everyone enjoyed their Monday off for Presidents' Day but we were happy to be back to work on Tuesday. We ended last week in the kitchen, baking some amazing, soft chocolate cookies. Then this week, our crew celebrated Mardi Gras by baking a Mardi Gras King Cake. Delicious! Working together in the kitchen is a good time.

We received more donations this week for this fall's Giveaway and spent time getting those organized. It is always exciting to see the donations coming in, knowing they will be used to help others. We also spent time on some extra cleaning projects this week, like in Miss Jill's office, as well as hunting for the purple drape to hang in the Sanctuary. Additionally, our crew completed the giant Star Wars Lego set that they've been working on for a while, with Mike Ashby helping place the final pieces. Thanks, Mike!

Our Cooking with Pastor Mike Day had to be rescheduled and we are looking forward to getting that scheduled for March. Instead of being in the kitchen today, we headed outside to enjoy this mild winter day. There's always work to be done on this property, that is for sure! We walked through the woods and trimmed underbrush away from the path. Later we will cut up a fallen tree. Dustin and Keegan's SSA Mr. Paul even joined in on our woods exploration. We love having folks join in on our days! You are always welcome to come and have fun with us.

I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.
