Special Storytime: Gareth Edwards Saturday 21st March

gareth-edwards

Weather forecast for the weekend isn't all you hoped, and taking the children to the park suddenly seems a damp prospect? Allow us to tempt you to the bookshop instead, where Gareth Edwards, author of firm storytime favourite The Disgusting Sandwich will be reading from his new book Fabulous Pie!

The session is free, runs from 11am - 11.30am and there will be stories and activities, suitable for ages 7 and under (and any grown ups who want to play with stickers and crayons...)

The event is free and you can just drop in, but we appreciate being able to plan for space, so reserve a spot if you want to come along, online, or by calling or popping into the shop.

(And don't forget, Storytime runs every Thursday and Saturday from 11am for an hour, and we'd love to see you there!)

David Mitchell

mitchellclocks

Thursday June 18th 7pm
We bought you David Mitchell (journalist and comedian) so now it's time for the OTHER David Mitchell (author).

A storyteller extraordinaire who has twice been shortlisted and once longlisted for the Booker prize, Mitchell manages to be both internationally bestselling, and a cult icon. He writes literary, audaciously structured and fantastical novels with a flair and wit that makes them a joy to read. This is your opportunity to meet the bestselling author of Cloud Atlas and The Bone Clocks in an intimate and laid back event.

Tickets are £10, include a paperback copy of The Bone Clocks, drinks & canapes.

His latest novel, The Bone Clocks, was longlisted for the 2014 Booker Prize and is an epic sweep of a book, starting in 1984 and ending in 2043, weaving in and out of the life of Holly Sykes, shot through with magical threads, literary establishment nods, and a healthy dose of villainy.

Wine and Watery Yarns

well-and-shore

There are still a few tickets left to meet Catherine Chanter (The Well) and Sara Taylor (The Shore) on Thursday 26th March.
Tickets are £6, or £20 for entry plus a hardback copy of each of the books, which you should really consider, as The Shore has this week been longlisted for the Bailey's Womens Prize for Fiction.

We select only the finest authors for you to meet, so book now to see these two spectacular debut novelists in conversation.

Reif Larsen

radar

A couple of years ago, Reif Larsen took the world by surprise with his charming, complex and joyful The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet.
His second novel is due out this month, and promises to be another strange and wonderful ride around the world. I've only read the first few chapters and I'm already intrigued and engrossed in it.
Vintage Books have recorded Reif reading a section of the book, and I thought some of you might like to listen to it. So here is a bit of I Am Radar. I hope you enjoy it, and there is plenty of other amazing Vintage authors reading and being interviewed on their Soundcloud channel.
