Fearless Activist Dies before She Sees Don Freed

Esther-Sign

Dear Friend,

We have lost one of Don Siegelman's best friends, Esther Bobbitt Davis.

Born in an Appalachian coal mining camp in Virginia, Esther's humble beginnings planted the seed for the energy, compassion, and courage that would help the countless number of people she met throughout her life.

Esther was always ready to support the least among us. Her tireless efforts involved every fiber of her being. She was stalwart in her beliefs and never afraid to promote or defend them in public.

An Avid Supporter of Don Siegelman, Especially during his Prosecution

Esther’s involvement in the Democratic Party included her avid support of Don Siegelman and his successful election to all four of the top statewide elected offices. When Siegelman later became a victim of appalling political prosecution, Esther began her greatest life-long effort for justice. The last decade of her life was devoted to fighting for his freedom. As long as her health allowed, every spare moment was spent composing letters to the editor, being interviewed by the media, collecting money on behalf of the Siegelman family, collecting signatures for petitions, and carrying signs for his freedom at rallies or standing on street corners.

One of Esther’s greatest fears was not living long enough to witness Siegelman’s release. Unfortunately, her bell rang too soon, and one of the world’s most fearless fighters for freedom and the integrity of democracy was taken from the ring.

Please donate to the Siegelman LDF in Esther's name!

Esther's family and friends ask that you honor her memory by continuing this effort so dear to her heart. Please contribute to the Legal Defense Fund to support the pursuit of justice for Don Siegelman.
