Our world has changed dramatically in the last couple of months, don't you think? With COVID-19 affecting just about all parts of our lives in ways we could not have imagined just a few months ago, the concept of remote work and virtual collaboration is a reality now.
At NewPath, we have been preaching (and practicing) working with remote teams for over 5 years. We work with our customers in a 100% remote mode. We use tools like Slack, Zoom, Dropbox to create a collaborative work environment without the need for being physically close. It takes a lot of practice, empathy and digital know-how to collaborate without being in the physical presence of your peers. But it's a new reality, as we all learn the power of digital collaboration - in work, education and collaboration.
Many businesses and organizations do not have the luxury of remote work, and it is those organizations and their staff that will be affected the most. Many organizations that we serve depend on physical conferences and meetings to deliver their value, and those events, for now, will most likely be cancelled or taken virtual. “People are heeding public health warnings and that’s good, but we’re going to pay a huge price economically for this outbreak. We’re going to have some real work to do to rebuild.” Rebuilding will include deciding when to deliver value to customers in-person and when to use digital means.
