HBL Helping Get Helmets On Heads

March is national Brain Injury Awareness Month, and fittingly, HBL teamed up with DOH’s Developmental Disabilities Division Neurotrauma Program to give out and properly fit helmets (for free!) to student’s heads at Leeward Community College. Check out the pictures here!

Do you know if your helmet properly fits you? A good way to test this is putting your helmet on & tightening the adjustment in the back so that when you give your head a shake upside down (with the chin-strap UNbuckled), the helmet does not fall off your head.

Congratulations to Vicki Lee and Marcy Fleming for winning the survey prizes! Thanks to everyone who filled out the survey. We're already putting the info to good use, working to create a safe bike route to and from Waikīkī and the Nimitz Bike Path. You can see the survey results here.

Thanks for sending emails and signing the petition for maintenance of bike lanes and paths. Perhaps as a result of your efforts, the posts on Pensacola are going to be replaced! Learn more in this article. We also have a petition to reconstruct the bike path on the North Shore.

Join the Advocacy Team

Do you want to help make O‘ahu more bike friendly? Join our Advocacy Team to volunteer and make our island a bicycling paradise! We have virtual meetings once a month and go on occasional bike rides to identify where improvements can be made. Email janel@HBL.org to join.

Join Us at the National Bike Summit

The 23rd Annual National Bike Summit will take place online and in Washington, DC from March 27 - 30, 2022. Here in Hawaii we’ll meet virtually with our representatives to ask them to support bike friendly policies. If you want to join us, email janel@HBL.org. While there is an entrance fee for the summit, these meetings are free.
