Why Should I Believe in the Christian life?
By Kevin Moore
Even if the promises of heaven were removed from the Bible, the Christian life would still be worth living. It is the most noble and fulfilling life possible. Living for Christ leads one away from the deceptive things of this world that ultimately destroy happiness, relationships, and lives (Colossians 3:1-11). The Christian vocation engenders personal growth, maturity, and character (Romans 5:3-4), offering forgiveness, a good conscience, peace, and joy that would otherwise be unavailable (Philippians 4:6-9). Moreover, being a disciple of Jesus makes life’s burdens much easier to bear (Galatians 6:2; 1 Peter 5:7). This in no way suggests that being a Christian is easy – something the Lord never promised. But does anything truly worthwhile ever come easy? (cf. Mark 10:29-30).
