Photography Tips for July 4th!

Sparklers and fireworks are one of the best parts of Independence Day. Unfortunately, they are very hard to photograph so here are a few tips on how to get the best pictures of your friends and family enjoying their 4th of July!

Fireworks:
These tips work best with a DSLR mounted on a tripod:

Set your camera to manual (M) setting
Slow down the shutter speed (i.e. start with a 1/2 second exposure or slower)
Try an aperture of f4 - f8
We recommend an ISO between 400 - 800
If you have a built-in flash, turn it off
Take a test picture first, and then adjust your settings to achieve the look you would like. Feel free to play around, have fun with it, and try different looks for your pictures. If you want to go more advanced then put something in the foreground (like people or objects such as a flag). If your camera has a bulb setting then play around with those settings as well.

Sparklers:
These tips work best with a DSLR and a flash (internal or external). Feel free to handhold or use a tripod:

Set your camera to manual (M) setting
Slow down the shutter speed (i.e. start with a 1/50 second exposure or go slower for more motion)
Try an aperture of f4 or f5.6
We recommend an ISO between 800 - 1600
Use an internal or external flash. If you have a built-in flash, turn it on
Like with the fireworks, take a test picture first, and then adjust your settings to achieve the look you would like. Feel free to play around, have fun with it, and try different looks for your pictures.

Reviews

Our goal this month is to gather more online reviews, and testimonials! Would you please take a second to give us a 5 star review/testimonial on Google, Yelp and/or WeddingWire (links below). Having 5 star reviews from our families and couples helps us continue to grow our business! If for any reason you feel that your experience fell short of a 5 star review please email us, so that we can make every effort possible to meet and exceed your expectations! This will help us continue to grow, and give the best experience possible with our photography!

In order to save time we recommend keeping your review/testimonial short, as well as copying and pasting it when reviewing on multiple sites. To help with writing your review/testimonial, here are a few questions to help inspire you:

What is your favorite memory with us?
How did we excel in terms of customer service?
If you were to recommend us to a friend what would you say?

Google Plus (you will find the "Write a Review” button to the right, underneath the “About” tab)

Event Wire/Wedding Wire (links directly to our review page)

Yelp ("Write a Review" is a red button to the right of our studio name)
