Rally for City Parks

11am to Noon

City Hall
Manhattan, NYC

Join New Yorkers for Parks, as well as advocates, activists, community gardens enthusiasts and members of the City Council to stand up and fight for our City parks. For too long, parks have been underfunded and treated as a luxury item in the budget.

This rally will be an opportunity to make clear how important green spaces are to you and to demand that all communities have the same access to high quality neighborhood parks.

LIC-HENGE

7 to 10pm

LIC Landing at Hunters Point South Park
54th Avenue and Center Blvd
Hunters Point, Queens

Come join the fun and the photo contest at the LIC-HENGE with the Hunters Point Parks Conservancy.

Food and one complimentary drink will be included for members of the HPPC. Memberships will be available for purchase at $20.

Participate in the LIC-HENGE photo contest to take the best picture of the exact angle of the sun coming down 42nd Street.

Join Two Coves Community Garden at their Annual Potluck Picnic and celebrate this beautiful garden.

It's a potluck, so please bring an item to share if you can.

International Culture Fest

Central Astoria Local Development Coalition has been designated by Council Member Constantinides as the recipient of the NYC Cultural Immigrant Initiative through the Department of Cultural Affairs.

The initiative is designed to bring the traditions and cultures of immigrant groups to audiences around New York City.

Performances will include music and dance from Bangladesh, Brazil, Ecuador, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, Romania, Spain and North Africa.

Bring your friends and family, come down to Celebrate Astoria and appreciate the amazing kaleidoscope of cultures that makes Astoria the great neighborhood it is.

Yoga classes are free and designed for all experience levels. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and, for yoga, bring a mat or a towel.

Kripalu Yoga is a system of Hatha Yoga that integrates body postures, breathing techniques, relaxation, and meditation. Taught by Monique Schubert and Yojaida Estrella, participants are encouraged to integrate their yoga practices with this very special waterfront environment of nature and art.
