Hello ,
We're delighted to announce that another Tiny House ADU has been permitted and completed in Ojai! We couldn't be more pleased with the results and hope this can provide much needed affordable housing in Ojai, CA.
This design is based on the Tiny House Prefab that was built in a factory, then delivered to the site in Santa Paula, CA. The big difference is: this particular unit was built onsite like a traditional stick built structure, NOT built in a factory.
TINY HOUSE ADU FOR $150K - LEARN MORE
I've been doing a lot of cost analysis between stick built vs. factory built. I found that traditional stick building is more cost effective, specifically for custom builds. The cost savings for modular building occurs only for multiple builds of the same exact unit. This Tiny House ADU costs $150K for stick build vs. $200K for a modular build.
My wonderful client, Leigh Scarber, built this rental unit to offset her mortgage and to provide much needed housing for Ojai. With a compact 300sf footprint, this ADU is a fully functional 1BR/1BA home with a washer/dryer, spacious deck and even a separate storage shed!
After a lot of interest from others, Leigh found the perfect tenant: a lovely single female professional who recently moved to Ventura County. The rent is priced at $2200/month, which includes most of the utilities. Personally I think this is a great deal considering all the amenities provided.
I'm curious to hear your thoughts! If you live in Ojai and looking for housing, do you think this is an affordable price? When doing research, Leigh found that most 1BR/1BA units are going for $2500/mo in Ojai and Ventura. Many are apartment units, not detached stand-alone dwellings.
Send me your thoughts... Your feedback is much appreciated!
Warm wishes,
