Autumn australia

Hello, Travellers!

Easter bilby

Welcome to Autumn

We hope the Easter Bilby found you and that a steady supply of chocolate helped those of you in Greater Brisbane get through the snap lockdown. The positive side to the handling of local outbreaks is that interstate travel restrictions lifted quicker than ever this time, including Western Australia, meaning a faster recovery and less travel plans impacted than during previous lockdowns.

Australia

All Australia is OPEN

Yes, even Western Australia! All Australians can travel to any state or territory (including Norfolk Island) without having to quarantine. Some states do require entry passes or permits so make sure that you are checking the latest information at least two weeks prior to travel. If in doubt, ask us!

Where We've Been

The SJT team has been getting around these Easter holidays, with Sonia taking a 3000km Outback Queensland driving adventure, plus a "hop" to Kangaroo Island for a long weekend. Amy and her family finally made it to Fraser Island after two false starts in 2020 and what an awesome week they had! Sandi and her family dropped off the grid for a few days with a camping trip in Gordon Country. Make sure you follow us on Instagram and Facebook to see snaps and updates from our travels! Sonia is still dreaming about that lavender scone... If you see somewhere SJT have been and you'd love to know more, let us know! We LOVE talking travel!

What's Hot

Quite literally, we have so much unique travel product on our books that it's hard to know where to start! The last month has seen a shift towards more remote destinations, smaller groups, wildlife and wilderness experiences, special interest travel, walking itineraries and longer duration holidays. Queensland is still very much the number one destination for many Australian travellers.

Welcome to Country

There is also an increased interest in indigenous culture, and as a result SJT is working closely with a number of different tourism businesses who are keen to show our travellers their land, their culture and their stories. We have experiences right across Australia, including Far North Queensland, Wagga Wagga, the Northern Territory, Western Australia, and even in the heart of Sydney!

no-vacancy

No Room at the Inn

Believe it or not, we are experiencing an availability shortage like never before, particularly for holiday periods and long weekends. Some destinations are completely full for months on end. With booking conditions more flexible than ever before, you really need to be forward planning your travels for late 2021 and into 2022. Big ticket experiences such as the Ghan, Kimberley cruising, Uluru and bucketlist properties like Lizard Island, Qualia, Wolgan Valley and Longitude 131 need to be booked at least six months in advance. So don't delay!

Silver Linings

A final thought for today from Sonia...

One of the true "silver linings" to come from our passports having a rest is the opportunity to see more of our own backyard. I'm sad to admit that Outback Queensland was never on my radar prior to 2020, and yet now have I have travelled there twice in eight months and I cannot wait to go back again! If you haven't seen the emus in Channel Country, or heard tales from the stockmen in Longreach, or soaked in an artesian bath in Julia Creek, or walked the land of the dinosaurs at Winton, or canoed through the gorge at Boodjamulla National Park, or taken a mining tour at Mount Isa, or stood atop the sand dunes at Birdsville... you are missing out on somewhere truly special. Here are a few photos from my family's recent outback journey to inspire you.
