Library News
The Allerton Public Library District will again host AARP Free Tax Preparation Services for Anyone/Any Age on Thursdays (5-7pm) and Saturdays (9am-noon) from Feb. 5 to April 14, 2018. Appointments Preferred. Some Walk-In's as time permits. Call (217) 762-4676 to schedule your appointment.
Beginning Monday, February 5, 2018 a group of dedicated AARP Tax Aide Volunteers will offer free income tax preparation at the library.
Those interested should CALL FOR AN APPOINTMENT at (217) 762-4676. Appointments will be inside the Library on Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (with a possibility of some appointments running over specified times.)
YOU MUST HAVE WITH YOU: 1) Proof of identification (Photo ID) for BOTH Taxpayer and Spouse. 2) Social Security Card(s) for you, your spouse, and dependents; or a Social Security Number verification letter issued by the Social Security Administration. AND 3)A copy of last year's federal and state tax returns
Angie M., Lucy N. & Linda S. were the winners of the 2018 January Jeopardy Trivia Game. Some players were in the game the entire month, others played when they could. Overall, it was a bit of fun everyday for a cold and windy month.
Adult Programs
The Library hosts free Adult Programs throughout the year for the education and entertainment of our Adult Patrons. If you would like to volunteer to give a presentation or have an idea for one of our Adult Programs, please contact the Library. Check the Online Calendar for scheduled programs that begin with "Adult..."
UPCOMING ADULT PROGRAMS AT THE LIBRARY...
▪ FIRST FRIDAY TECH TIME – Feb. 2 @2pm. Have your library tech questions answered on the first Friday of the month. ▪ BINGO @ THE LIBRARY– Feb. 12 @ 2pm. Adults (18+) are welcome to attend. Small prizes are awarded. ▪ COMMUNITY SCAN DAY - Feb. 16th from 2pm to 4:30. Share your photographs with the community!! This is a free, monthly event and appointments can be made. Items will also be scanned on a drop-in basis, however, patrons may experience a wait during busy times and if an appointment is not made. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a time to have your items scanned, please contact the Allerton Public Library at (217) 762-4676.

This free clinic for future babysitters will help teach 10-14 year olds about:
Providing care for infants and children
Staying safe
Handling emergencies
Choosing age-appropriate activities
Recognizing and handling a variety of behaviors
Starting and managing your babysitting business
Basic First Aid and CPR (not a CPR Certificate Program)
Space is limited and registration is required at info@monticellolibrary.org or 217-762-4676.
Attendants will need to wear comfortable clothes and bring a sack lunch for the day.
