Art is much less important than life, but what a poor life without it. Robert Motherwell

These are some of this month's shows and press. More of my paintings and news articles are at tonisart.com.

Gallery 440: Food for Thought Opening Reception on August 21st, 6-9 PM

Suishi

Sushi, acrylic on canvas, 16" x 16"

Sushi will be part of the Exhibition. 26 artists working in a range of styles and media have been selected.

My appreciation of unconventional views comes together in up-close, above-view paintings of food. While the colors and shapes are traditional, the oversized proportions seen from above make them unique.

The show runs from August 21 - September 13. Gallery 440 is located at 440 Sixth Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11215. Check Gallery 440 for more information.

Multiple Lane Highway

Multiple Lane Highway, acrylic on canvas, 30" x 40"

Multiple Lane Highway and Walkway in Shanghai were awarded Special Recognition in Art Quench Gallery's Landscapes Juried Art Competition and Exhibition.

Seen from above the highways and the cloverleaf interchange are the focus of the composition eliminating details.

Upstream People Gallery gave Diamonds, Nysa Suburb 2 and Carnival Special Recognition in their Bold/Subtle Juried Online International Art Exhibition. Additional paintings included in the show are Colorado Suburb and County Cross Roads.
