Sunday's Service - September 13, 2020

In-Person & Online @ 11am

Worship will take place out front at the raised bed garden - weather permitting.

The featured Scripture is: Romans 8:1-11
for Mike's message: In Christ: We Are Safe and Secure

As the old saying goes, “It’s always darkest before the dawn.” That’s certainly true of Paul’s authorship of this book. He closes chapter 7 on a low note, only to crescendo to a swelling high point in chapter 8. “Don’t despair! You’re in secure hands and you’re safe,” Paul tells us. He reminds us of four facts that should settle every heart. Please join us Sunday, online or in person, at 11:00am to hear how,
In Christ, you are safe and secure. ~ Pastor Mike

Outdoor Worship ~ Weather Permitting

We will have a number of canopies set up out front to provide shade and space to allow us to follow the social distancing guidelines. You may want to bring an umbrella in the event you are not under the canopies. Come ready to enjoy worshiping the Lord together again out in His creation, with your Bible, your mask (just in case), a camping chair, and your smile! Invitation to Worship from Pastor Mike

Rachel shared this shot of a visitor to Worship on Sunday morning. Even the garden creatures are enjoying outdoor services!

My mouth will speak in praise of the LORD. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever. ~ Psalm 145:21

Worshiping Together

Spend Sunday morning with us ~ online or in-person at 11:00am.

Monday morning! The CGCC website has a Contact/Prayer Request page, you can
email Jen Lynch directly, or use commonground.secretary@gmail.com.

We would love to see and pray for the prayer needs of everyone from Common Ground and Connecting Life as well as anyone else in need of the power of prayer!

Lysol Donations Appreciated

With all the extra cleaning and disinfecting, we are going through cleaning supplies quicker than ever. Since we currently need to keep a Lysol spray in every bathroom (a total of 5 bathrooms) for people to use after each visit, that is our most important cleaning item. Unfortunately, Lysol has been unusually difficult to find. If you have any spare cans of Lysol or you are lucky enough to locate it in a store, please think about donating it to the church. Your generous donation will help us to help everyone stay as safe and healthy as possible during this time. Thank you!

Children's Ministry

Collide Kids Wednesday ~ God offers forgiveness when we feel guilty.

Have you ever done something wrong and have felt horrible about it. Maybe you wish you could go back in time and right your wrong? Well, in this lesson, from 1 John 1:9, we learn that when we feel guilty, God has the power to forgive! Take 25 minutes with your child(ren) and learn this important truth!

Join Collide Crew Leader Delania and spend some time together singing, dancing, laughing, and learning! We would love for you to also have your child memorize this week's scripture verse and motions and upload a video of them in the comment section under the video on the CLC Facebook page! Have a great week, Collide Kids!

This week's discussion question - What would you do if you found someone's diary? Share your answers by email or on Facebook!

Youth Group 2020-2021

Youth Group Returns!

Sunday, September 20
Of course, with the addition of COVID-19, there will be some changes to our normal format. We will still begin at 6pm but, for now, we'll end at 7pm, one half hour earlier than normal. (This is a tentative schedule and may change at any time, depending on conditions at church and in our area.) We will follow all health and safety directives, including mandatory masks, social distancing, and meeting outside when possible. We will also skip the snack portion of our evening, so make sure to grab a bite to eat before you arrive! If you aren't feeling well, please know that we will miss you but we ask you to stay home until you bounce back. We hope that if we all work together and take care of each other, we can have a fantastic year delving into the Word, having fun, helping others, and growing together!

Youth Group is open to kids in 5th through 12th grade ~ Sundays, 6-7pm
We meet upstairs in the Activity Room, so please enter through upper door.

Parents, we have a YG permission waiver we need you to fill out next time you're here.

Prayer

For whom are you praying today?
How can we pray for you?

Whenever you have a prayer request, please don't hesitate to send it in! We are here to pray with and for you. Please take a minute to send in your prayer needs by early Monday mornings for inclusion in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week!

Encouragement

Thank you to Darla Smith for writing and Marcia Kreps for sharing Darla's uplifting words with us.

This is the day the Lord has made - Let's Rejoice! I pray you all are doing fabulous this week. The fall season is knocking on our door. I know some of you are excited and some not so much. But every season is God's masterpiece. Let us enjoy all He has for us to experience.

The word that God gave me this week is STALLED. Has your car ever stalled out? Have you felt maybe your walk with God is at a stall? Are you feeling maybe your diet/healthy lifestyle is at a stall? Maybe you feel stalled at your job? Possibly stalled in your time of healing. Stalled in your time of grief. I have been feeling stalled in my healing. I kinda felt like maybe some of you have felt stalled as well. Whatever time we are at in our walk - sometimes we may feel stalled. Being stalled could possibly be our time of refreshment. Maybe God is ministering to us in His loving way. Being stalled does not mean we are there to stay. We are going through - we are not here to stay. We are passing through just maybe stalling for a bit. Let's be refreshed in our stalling. The scripture I have for us is one of my favorites. I pray you are encouraged, refreshed, renewed, restored this week.

But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. ~ Isaiah 43:1-2 (NLT)

Devotionals Available

Devotionals are available on tables throughout our Great Room. Take one home today to incorporate into your daily routine. Take one (or more) home to share with a friend!

News of the Week

It has been a week full of creatures at GG! Butterfly releases, time with toads and frogs, visiting with praying mantises and woolly bears...it has been filled with wonder and fun. We never know what interesting thing will happen during a day here in North Lima.

We are gearing up for Saturday's Youngstown Flea, so our crew spent some time in the kitchen making Jungle Jam and Juicy Jam. Kitty will be set up from 9am-3pm, right by the Covelli Centre. Take a trip downtown and check out this fantastic market.

We also spent time cleaning, weeding, and prepping for the CSA. After today, there are only two CSA weeks left. This season sure has flown by. If you have any ideas about CSA 2021, let us know.

Rachel and two of our clients took a trip to the OSU Extension Office in Canfield on Wednesday, for a free seed giveaway. We are excited about planting these seeds for the fall growing season. Big thanks to the Extension Office and to all those who so generously made this project possible!

From their website: Ohio Victory Gardens ~ "Victory Gardens originated during World War I, an answer to a severe food shortage at the time. People were encouraged to find any usable space, plop in some seeds and contribute homegrown fruits, vegetables and herbs to the effort. The idea was wildly successful, growing an army of amateur gardeners and serving to boost morale and patriotism. While we’re not in wartime, we can all commiserate the past few months have been tough, mood-boosters are welcomed. So the Ohio Department of Agriculture and Ohio State University are reviving the effort and once again inspiring people to get their hands dirty, realize the fruits of their labor and share with others if inspired. We believe a good day in the garden is good for the soul."

Our crew will be growing radishes, turnips, and beets as our Victory Garden project. When they are harvested, we will take them to local food pantries to share with the community. Looking forward to another successful growing adventure! We'll keep you posted on how it goes.

Our Thanks for the Jungle Jam Supplies!

Thank you to everyone who has donated jars, lids, and rings!!! We deeply appreciate your help
and generosity. If you find any more new or old 8oz. jars and rings, or new lids,
we will always be able to put them to good use.

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
