Emergency Call from Sunsara Taylor

Sunsara Taylor and Stop Patriarchy has called upon the Stop Mass Incarceration Network to join in response to the shootings by a fascist who shot up and entered a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The Stop Mass Incarceration Network joins the call to demonstrate Saturday, November 28 at 1:00 PM at Union Square (south end, the 14th St end).

What happened in Colorado Springs: This fascist shot up a Planned Parenthood clinic that provides abortions, so necessary for the liberation of women, to be able to control their bodies, to be able to determine what they can do with their lives. Before Friday’s attack which seems to have killed three people, one a police officer, eight abortion providers had been murdered over the years and dozens of clinics vandalized, bombed and burned. All this is another American tradition — to further the oppression of women.

There is a direct link to what we are doing in responding to the genocidal trend of relentless police terror and mass incarceration. In Carl Dix’s statement about the racist shootings of protestors in Minneapolis he said, “The masked white supremacists who shot 5 people who were protesting the police murder of Jamar Clark on November 23 in Minneapolis were carrying out a long standing American tradition—gunning down people standing up against the oppression of Black people.”

The struggles to fight and end different forms of oppression are all linked. Nobody’s free ‘til we’re all free.

There has at the same time been armed racist attacks on people in Minnesota demonstrating against the police killing of Jamar Clark, attacks which the police did absolutely nothing to prevent and indeed took as further opportunity to harass the demonstrators themselves.

Both of these together are part of more overall openly fascist reactionary wind being fanned – again from very high up among the rulers of this country – in which threats, beatings and armed attacks are being unleashed against the people.
