It's our favorite time of the year: Nutcracker! Tickets are now on sale for our 11th annual production of The Nutcracker at the Northshore Performing Arts Center featuring gorgeous sets and costumes, talented professional and youth performers, and the rousing Rainier Symphony Ballet Orchestra.

We are especially excited to welcome our esteemed guest dancers to the Eastside stage. On Dec. 2 and 3, Koto Ishihara and Hansuke Yamamoto from the San Francisco Ballet will appear as our Sugar Plum Fairy and Cavalier. On Dec. 9 and 10, it's Madison Penney and Slawomir Wozniak Jr. from Master Ballet Academy. These amazing artists are sure to bring an extra dose of magic to your holiday season.

For the fifth consecutive year, EBT invites non-profit children’s groups and veterans to attend our dress rehearsal on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 10:00 a.m. These reduced-price tickets are sold through EBT, not NPAC, and there is a minimum order of 10 tickets for children's groups. Please mail in the order form to Emerald Ballet, or email tickets@emeraldballet.org.

We have one month left to go of our Annual Fund Campaign, and have so far raised $6,309 towards our $12,000 goal. All donations support our performance season, including the live orchestra at our Nutcracker. As a non-profit organization, EBT relies on the generosity of its donors to help bring first-class productions to our community. If you haven't pitched in yet, please do so today!

Make a gift online here or drop off a donation form. Remember to check with companies to see if they will give matching funds. Thank you.

TIPanel2017

On Tuesday, Nov. 14, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., the EBT Teaching Institute will present a special panel and discussion about Dance After High School at the studio. Middle and high schoolers (and their parents) are encouraged to explore the many paths available to dance students. There is no fee for EBT students who are enrolled in TI. The fee is $15 for non-TI students or community members. Sign up for the panel/discussion here.

EBT's unique year-round Teaching Institute provides many opportunities for students to apply their technical and artistic skills as trained dancers to the field of teaching and community arts outreach. $45 per year covers all workshops and events; students can also opt to pay $25 for one semester. Such a great value! Learn more here.

Costume Workshop

The learning continues! EBT's fabulous Costume Mistress, Ms. Angela, will be leading a Costume and Production Workshop on Nov. 18 at 5:00 p.m. If Teaching Institute participants are interested in learning hands-on sewing and costuming skills, they can contact Ms. Angela directly before the workshop at angela-newman@hotmail.com. This workshop is free for students who are enrolled in TI, and $15 for non-TI students. Sign up here.

Teaching Institute Outstanding Mentor Scholarship

Just like strong dance technique, good character does not develop overnight. Emerald Ballet Theatre values both in its students, so we were overjoyed when a family shared their desire to establish a $200 cash scholarship that recognizes exceptional leadership and character among dancers in our EBT community. The Teaching Institute Outstanding Mentor Scholarship will be awarded annually to a junior or senior who has participated in the Teaching Institute and continually exceeded TI's expectations by serving as a leader, role model and mentor. No application is required. The recipient will be announced at the Spring Show.

Within Reach Header-sm-e1504211604102

Dancers, it's time to stretch your wings! Now is your chance to enter the PTA Reflections Contest in the dance choreography category. This year's theme is "Within Reach."

Reflections is an excellent opportunity for our dancers to use their imagination and creativity to share the talents they work so hard to develop at EBA. (Last year we had two students who placed at the state level.) Students of all ages can choreograph an original solo or group dance, and Ms. Sarah is here to offer encouragement. Check with your school for deadlines, which vary. More information about this free, national contest can be found here.
